Home and Away Cruise Tragedy
Comments from Daniel Collopy

May 25-31 2002

Summer Bay residents past and present celebrate the town's 150th birthday with a glitzy
cruise on the high seas ... but danger lurks when a violent storm strikes the hapless
revellers.

The town of Summer Bay turns 150 and the residents are ready to celebrate on Home and Away!
A special cruise is planned but the party soon turns to turmoil when the weather goes bad.
It's a big event, the 150 years of Summer Bay, says Rebecca Cartwright, who plays
Hayley Smith (pictured below, from left, Beau Brady, Rebecca, Tammin Sursok and Daniel Collopy).
We have to get all dressed up in formal wear for it. Hayley likes getting dressed up so she is
pretty excited. She and Noah were really looking forward to going on this boat.
Unfortunately the pleasure soon turns to panic.
[The boat] starts rocking about and when we're all told to put on our life jackets there's a
lot of panic, Rebecca reveals.
We just have no idea what's going on, no-one has any idea how bad it's going to get.
The special celebration also features some former residents of the Bay including Carly Lucini
(Sharyn Hodgson), Steven Matheson (Adam Willits) and Sophie Simpson (Rebekah Elmaloglou).
Meeting some of the former cast members was a highlight for Daniel Collopy (who plays Josh West).
It was unreal because I used to watch all of them. It was a great thrill, I loved hanging out
with Adam Willits and Les Hill, he beams.
"Josh bands together with Kane to help people into life jackets and try to survive the situation they've all just been thrown into," Daniel explains.
"Josh's main concern is that he sticks with Dani," Daniel says.
This is the biggest event to hit Summer Bay in the time that I have been there," Daniel says.
"As a new cast member, it was an amazing storyline to be a part of."
