Battery Power for the XM Roady2
An Idea By Dan Bruner 07/18/04

For the battery I used a 6v-lantern cell from Wal-Mart.  This battery has screw terminals as opposed to the spring-like terminals which makes removing and attaching the battery cord easier.  The battery cord and plug are radio shack products. I just used some crimp-on type ends for attaching the battery. The radio shack part numbers are as follows: cord 2731743, plug 2731705.

The Roady2 is attached to the box by some of that "super Velcro" not sure what the proper name is, but it holds much better (also available at Radio Shack). I was able to use just two strips that still allows me enough room to attach the clip for mounting in my truck on the swivel mount when not using the battery pack.

This setup will work with either headphones or by tuning a nearby FM radio to one of the transmitting channels. I figure the whole thing probably cost about $12 (minus the Roady2 of course...).

In order to prolong the life of the battery, you can turn on the unit without the backlight by entereing 2-3-2 and then pressing the scroll button in.
