Daniel Beeman, dMbEnterprises, 3897 Caminito Aguilar Dr. Apt D,
Well here it is
When I started the Web Server Security Certificate program I was homeless living in my RV http://www.geocities.com/daniel_beeman on the street next to the park behind the North City campus, &/or near Mesa College. You have to move a lot when living in a RV.
Three months into the program my friend was called up on a section 8 housing list in Clairemont. After waiting 2 months and filling out a 2’ stack of papers we got a place. So I’m no longer “homeless”. But I’ve been spending $200 over my monthly income to stay at the apartment. (I’ve worked pt at USD for over 8 years now.) So my savings have dwindled from nearly $3000 to about $700. I spent about $200 on getting the XP Pro box, and $45 on get a Apple G-3(Salvation Army). This weekend, through Computer Edge classifieds I got an Apple PowerBook PC 1400 laptop for $60.
During the time I
started the class http://www.geocities.com/SDccdWebServerClass
& now I’ve begun my own business. It isn’t making money yet, in fact I’m
spending more than I make, another reason for savings drop, but I do have a
client who I maintain a web site for http://www.GoodVistaTires.com
that is in Bullhead City, AZ. I got a flat tire, & he was the only tire
shop with a used tire to fit my car so I asked if he wanted a “web presence”?
He liked my work so we I am building and maintaining the site. He gives me a
little cash, about $90 month, and is giving me credit for service/tires. I’ve
had about 10 inquires about designing sites, most of these small businesses are
just to business for us to really put something together yet, and because of
classes I’m busy too. During my travel I came across
My next move is to get my Web Server Certificate, take a short celebration trip, and then continue in the Interactive Media Certificate class (why I got the Apple machines).
I need to continue to hone my Web Design skills, but I also want to use my back stage skills to help my clients use they’re computers to the fullest, MySQL database servers for inventory, PHP/CGI for sales marketing off the web, and Apache to maybe even host their own pages if it is cost effective. Instructor McGerald has been so helpful. He knows so much. And every day I get more confidence as I use and practice my new acquired skills. They are really paying off, in more ways then one.
I hope you will consider me for some scholarship(s). I’m
thankful for how God has blessed me recently, but some more funds would really
help to keep my afloat as I try to get through IMC class and
Sincerely yours,
