| At that, the disciples got a boat and headed for the city. After a few hours, they were caught in a ravishing storm and could not maneuver their boat, and after a while found themselves in the middle of that part of the sea. As they were continuing to rock and the disciples were losing hope, one of them saw something moving on the water, thought it was a ghost (spirit), and called out to it asking for help. After a while, they figured out that it was their Lord Jesus Christ that was walking on the water and Peter (one of the twelve disciples) called out to Him asking, "Can I come out with you on the water, Jesus?" Jesus, in reply, said, "Come" and Peter got out of the boat and started walking on the water after a minute or two He looked out at sea and saw the wind and how high the waves were as he was walking and noticed that he was sinking. And right before he sank all the way, Jesus kneeled down upon the water and said, "Why have you lost faith?" "Why have you doubted me? I think that this story is a life application story because that is what a lot of us do as Christians. We lose faith in the One that we really ought to be looking to first. Faith is a powerful thing and when we lose it, we "sink" in the faith of Christ. We have to put in "blind faith" with God and Jesus Christ. We do not need to know what will happen if it is God's will to do it, because you will be taken care of by the Father. One more story I would like to share with you is the story of Jesus and the disciples swept out to Sea. (Read the story Matthew 8:23-27) Jesus Christ went in to a ship with the disciples and Jesus went to sleep. The huge storm swept across the sea and the ship was covered with waves and the disciples were fearful and awoke Jesus Christ and said "Lord, save us: We perish" And Jesus then said to them: "Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith" and then He calmed the winds and the sea. Then the disciples marveled Him and said, "What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him! This is an incredible story of how Jesus can make the impossible, possible. |
