History: Nikki grew up with her aunt and uncle in New Orleans. She knew they weren't her real parents, and she never asked any questions about her real parents. To her, they simply didn't matter.
When she was 14, her aunt and uncle had a child of their own. After that, they stopped paying attention to Nikki completely. Her rebelous nature kicked in then, and she started dating boys, doing drugs, drinking alcohol, and other illegal things such as shoplifting. She was doing everything within her power to gain back the attention she use to get.
After bouncing around from recovering center to recovering center (and bad relationship to bad relationship), she finally started 'tinkering'. She would take things apart to see how and why they worked. She researched as much about her pet projects as she could, and pretty soon she could build things from memory.
She finally pulled away from almost all of her other activities, including eating and sleeping, just to learn more. She started collecting books at 17, and still hasn't stopped yet. Once, while she was at the library researching near closing hours, she came back to her table to find a copy of Kitab al Alacir. At first, she was going to leave it-since it didn't have any library tags on it or anything-but something told her to slip it into her bookbag; nobody would know.
That night she went to her home and read it-straight through. She spent nearly three days reading it, no sleep and barely any food. She took notes, the thoughts whirling around in her mind as she read through it's information. On the 4th day she slept, and on the 5th she went back to the library. She simply had to find whoever it was that left it there for her...
Come to find out, it was the head librarian-Gregory L. Tifflin. He explained to her that he was a Son of Ether, and from there he took her through her Awakening, and guided her until she was ready to be on her own.
