| Our Story | |||||||||
| Simon and Dani met at a fun party Simons' sister Nancy was throwing. They hit it off and started spending time together, a lot of time. Quickly Simon was introducing Dani to things she'd always wanted to try but had never really done. Riding bikes in the park, hiking, camping, fishing, barbecuing and many other outdoor activities. Meanwhile, Dani was trying to show Simon that being a couch potato was OK sometimes too (that part didn't work out too well). They soon were given an opportunity to live together and found that it was quite comfortable. Such a happy little family - Simon, Dani and Monty the attention needing, hyper active Springer Spaniel. Awwww, how adorable. After a while they started climbing together and on one adventure to Smith Rock in Bend, Oregon, Simon broke his ankle. Ouch! After a slow scary drive down dark windy roads from central Oregon to Portland, Dani landed Simon in the emergency room (but I must digress and say that this was after eight additional hours of climbing and Simon belaying!). Ah, love. This was a time when they were able to learn a lot about each other since they were cooped up inside all day together :) Next they moved to West Linn with their friends Sam and Jennifer. What a lot of fun they had together. Lots of barbecues and camping and good times in life. Then Simon got the call - his dad needed him! He was off to northern Washington to build log homes. This is such a momentous occasion but a hard decision must be made. To go or not to go? Well, of course, to go! Dani and Simon moved Simons' things (and some of Dani's) to Curlew, Washington, and on the next day Simon woke Dani up at 6am for a walk. What?!? Well, up she got and out she went for a lovely (cold) morning (early) walk. Up the hillside to a flat overlooking the whole Kettle River valley to a blanket with a ring open on top. Could it be true? Was it a proposal? Yes, my friends it was! And with all of nature as their witness, we became engaged. Now, we invite you to witness our exchange of marriage vows before we head off to our life together in the untamed wilderness of northern Washington. |
