I've given this a lot of thought, and yes you are right girls do go after assholes. There are a few reasons for it.
The first reason is the most obivious. Usually when a girl goes after an asshole, it maybe because she feels she doesn't deserve the "Prince Charming."
Second, you may think the guy she's with now treats her like crap. But that may only happen in front of friends. When the two of them are together alone, he may treat her like an angel.
Third, some girls may feel that an asshole is a challenage. You know girls, they always want to change you. So she may feel that he's an asshole now, but I can be the girl that changes him into a real sweetheart.
And lastly, it's all about the chase. An asshole may come off real strong and say he doesn't need a girlfriend, while "Prince Charming" may admit that he wants a girlfriend. Both girls and guys go after the chase. So "Prince Charming" would be too easy, while the asshole is the chase.
So, to help you out Prince Charming, don't openly admit you need a girlfriend, still treat her like you're Princess, but you have to make her want to chase you.
