Our Grandma

Her perceptive understanding,
Her stalwart but feeble frame,
Radiant rays of faith and love -
Gladys Shemilt is her name.

Her saucy, tittering manner,
Indispensibly clever,
Had a frankness to embarrass
Flagrant minds forever.

Tea biscuits from nimble fingers,
Not as spry as in her youth,
Still amusingly presented,
Delightful, spirit of truth.

Her expressions grew laconic.
Infirmities settled in...
Yet her hums will be remembered
As radiant GEMs within.
