Railway Locomotives and Stock for CFS2 and FS2002

At the moment I have RAF Mount Batten under development. This features a dockyard with its own internal railway system for moving stuff around the base. Having a very keen interest in railways I decided to produce a reasonable collection of locomotives and stock for use in CFS2 and FS2002 to use instead of the rather rubbish looking objects that come with the sim. In order that the objects would look as realistic as possible I decided to produce them in FSDS and also create some high resolution textures in the optimal texture file format for CFS2 and FS2002 which is the DXT bitmap.

My first experiment was a Great Western Railway carriage which would be put on the mainline through Plymouth but for the time being is on one of the lines in the navel base.

I have placed it with the wagon and brake van objects by Mike Rennie to see if I had the scaling correct. Luckily I had!

A little more tweaking is required on the model such as adding the corridor connection and a cuboid to represent the bogie and then I can change the side textures to represent a brake end coach.

Future developments which I am currently working on will include a dock tank locomotive (possibily in Admiralty livery) and various wagons such as Lowmacs (for carrying tanks) and even armoured wagons with guns mounted on top as well as more carriages.

This is the first ever railway locomotive for CFS2/FS2002 and uses a DXT bitmap for the textures.

The locomotive does not feature stand proud buffers as I thought that these would not improve the look of the loco but reduce the frame rates.

At the moment it is done as engine No. 5 the textures also feature a number six and I will be creating versions with other numbers as well.
