Wheels And Tires

Tires

Mounting high-performance tires provides much greater grip than stock tires.  High-performance tires will enhance a cars cornering, acceleration, and braking.  It will look nicer with a set of fat tires too.  Tires are one of the most effective upgrades, after all it doesnt matter how much power you car has because it ain't going anywhere unless you can get that power to the road.
Since most of us do our driving/racing on the street a set of street performance tires would be perfect.  Listed below are a few of the better options.
   -Nitto NT555
   -BF Goodrich Comp T/A ZR
   -Michelin MXX3, Pilot SX
   -Good Year Eagle GSC
Depending on where you buy your tires and the size they could cost anywhere from $100 to $300.

For the more serious racer slicks can be used.  Eventhough they are useless on the street they are great for the track.  Slicks are made of a special compound that provides excelent grip.  Vendors Such as Jegs and Summit have a good selection of slicks.

Wheels (Rims)

One of the best things you can do to make your car look nice is slapping on a nice set of rims.  I know when I got mine (chrome Cobra R's) my car looked like a whole different car.  I loved it.  You'll attract alot of attention too.
As for performance, a bigger set of rims will allow bigger tires for better traction.  In some cases the aftermarket rims can weigh a good bit more than factory and actually slow you down just a bit so watch out there.
There is a huge selection of rims out there, finding the right ones can be a pain but in the end its well worth it.

Whenever Putting on a new set of rims, always use locking lug nuts.  You don't need ones as nice as the ones shown above but a simple set of wheel locks will cost about $20.  Just don't loose the key.  Keep the key hidden inside your car because it would suck to get a flat and not have your key to change the tire.
