| V6 Mustang Exhaust | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The stock exhaust is not the greatest thing around. In fact, its very restrictive. But not to worry there are now many options for opening up to much better exhaust flow. For starters your going to want to change to dual exhaust. Any cat-back systems made for a gt will fit. You'll just have to either buy an H-pipe from MAC or buy a pacesetter adapter. This will get rid of the stock Y-pipe configuration and make an 'H' allowing you to hook up the dual exhaust cat-back system. |

| Note: Don't get dissapointed when you car doesnt sound like a GT. It never will, just be happy with making a really sweet sounding V6. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Headers | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The stock headers arent too bad but if you've gotta have the best you have two options from MAC. You can either buy shortie headers that flow a little better than stock and probally sound a tad bit better or you can go all the way with high-flow long tube headers for maximum flow. Below you can see pictures of both. The Short tube headers can be used with the stock pipes or a MAC H-pipe but the long tube headers require a special H-pipe also made by MAC. |

| H-Pipes & X-Pipes | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| You have a few options for an H-pipe. The first option is to keep your stock Y-pipe and buy an adapter to make it into an H-pipe. This requires some cutting and either clamping or welding. Anotherr option is a MAC H-Pipe. They have 2 kinds available for both the long and short tube headers (stock headers also). You can get one with high-flow catalic converters for pretty good flow and sound and maybe even pass emissions, or you can get an off-road H-pipe. These have no catalic convertors and have very good flow. I recommend you only use one if your running a supercharger or NOS. These are very loud!! And many people don't like the sound. In my opinion it sounds like a V6 Nascar. I was a little dissapointed with the sound but I like the increase in performance. Your last option is to buy an aftermarket H or X pipe made for a GT and have an exhaust shop do a custom job to make it fit your V6. They will need to do a little cutting and welding. |

| Cat-Back Exhaust Systems | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| For anyone that doesnt know a "cat-back" exhaust is a system that replaces everything from the catalic converters back. It simply bolts up to your H, X, or modified Y pipe. Installing an aftermarket exhaust will give you more power and much better sound depending on what kind you choose to get. Your best option in my opinion is Borla, they make great exhaust but it is kind of expensive compared to the others. If you looking for a cheaper alternative thats still pretty good try flowmaster or MAC. One thing you need to make sure you get is exhaust hangers for the passenger side since stock only had single exhaust running down the drivers side. Some kits come with them but if not you can buy them from a ford dealer or make up something custom. Below you will see a picture of a Borla Cat-back system and whats included in most every cat-back kit. |
