Zoe the Nymph Nymphs are born from the Earth. Nymphs are a product of the Earth's passions, which steam out of the ground in a red-orange-violet myst. The myst collects in the sky in clouds, and when the clouds become heavy they rain down onto the earth in red-orange-violet drops. Where the passion drops fall, there grow large, beautiful flowers. Each flower has different colored petals. When the flowers bloom, there is a female baby in the middle. The baby girl rolls out of the flower and the Earth nurses and cradles her. Whatever the color is on the flower's petals, this is the color of the hair of the baby. The baby grows into a mature woman in a matter of days. A mature nymph has all the features of an adult female human, but nymphs are never any taller than four and a half feet. Nymphs are daughters of the Earth, and they are very beautiful and sensual. They love to frollick in the woods and eat fruit. Their stomachs turn fresh fruit into wine automatically. They sleep together in groups to keep warm, and their nights are often very sensual. They love to rub their bodies against eachother and feel eachother's energies. They love to kiss eachother and hold hands. During one spring season, when the Earth's passions clouded up and rained down, one flower in the fields had black petals. The nymph that it produced had pure black hair, and her eyes were silver with a hint of sky blue. The Earth named her Dryzelle. All of Dryzelle's sister nymphs didn't like her because they thought her hair was ugly, and they all avoided her. Dryzelle would sit by herself and watch the other nymphs from a distance as they played and danced. She watched as their beautiful, colorful hair danced in the wind. She looked at her own black hair and cursed it, weeping heavy tears upon the Earth. Dryzelle wished that she could have a companion, a friend, someone who she could play with and sleep with. Since none of her sisters wanted to sleep with her, Dryzelle was always cold at night and she could barely ever have a restful sleep. As Dryzelle's tears fell to the Earth, they sunk into the soil and the Earth heard her daughter's wish. The Earth weeped within herself because of her daughter's sorrow, and she spoke to the Sun. The Earth said to the Sun, "Oh, Sun that gives life to my children and illuminates the day so that they can learn and be wise, would you give a gift for my daughter, Dryzelle, who is in the shadow of loneliness?" The Sun said to the Earth, "I will take Intelligence from Mercury, and I will take Beauty from Venus, and I will take Courage from Mars, and I will take Generosity from Jupiter, and I will take Discipline from Saturn, and I will take Ingenuity from Uranus, and I will take Insight from Neptune, and I will take Resolve from Pluto, and I will combine all these and tie them together with one of my beams, and I will shoot them as a drop down upon you, and the drop will land in the soil where your daughter's tears have fallen, and the drop will mix with your daughter's tears, which are a product of her passions, and a flower will grow and produce a nymph who will be loved by all of your children. But the nymph who is produced will only love your daughter, Dryzelle, because their substance will be mixed together." The Earth thanked the Sun. The Sun did all he said he would, sending the drop down upon the earth into the soil where Dryzelle's tears had fallen. A flower grew in the ground, and all the nymphs were astounded by the beauty of the flower. The flower's petals were decorated with every color of the rainbow. Red, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and violet. The nymphs didn't know where the flower came from, since the clouds of the Earth's passions weren't in the sky. They stood around and watched the flower, waiting for it to bloom, because they knew that such a beautiful flower would produce a very beautiful child. Dryzelle watched from afar, because none of the other nymphs would allow her a close look. When the flower bloomed, a baby rolled out that was more beautiful than any baby that the Earth had produced by herself. The Earth named her Zoe, which means the essence of life. The nymphs watched as Zoe matured. Her hair was all the colors of the rainbow, and it shined in the Sun's light. Her skin was very fair and light, and it sheened in the Sun's light. Her eyes were a golden color, and they sparkled in the Sun's light. The nymphs whispered to eachother, "Surely this is a daughter of heaven. She is too beautiful to be from the Earth alone." When Dryzelle saw Zoe, she began to cry. However, she didn't cry from sorrow. She cried because of Zoe's beauty. Zoe saw Dryzelle by herself, crying, and she walked to her. Zoe said to Dryzelle, "Why are you crying?" Dryzelle could not speak, because of the heaviness of her sobbing. The other nymphs followed, and one of the nymphs said to Zoe, "This is Dryzelle. She is called the Ugly One. Her hair is like a crow. She is not beautiful like you. You should not speak to her." Zoe looked at the nymph who spoke to her, and lightning flashed in her eyes. The other nymphs said similar things to Zoe, telling her to ignore Dryzelle and to not speak to her. When Zoe heard these sayings about Dryzelle, she cried in her heart, and she hated the other nymphs because of their contempt for Dryzelle. Zoe didn't understand why the other nymphs hated Dryzelle and called her the Ugly One, because when Zoe looked at Dryzelle she only saw beauty. When Dryzelle heard the things that the other nymphs said to Zoe, she feared in her heart. When Zoe was born, Dryzelle thought that her wish was being granted, and so she was happy inside. But when she heard the nymphs speaking to Zoe, she thought that Zoe would believe them and hate her. Because of this fear, Dryzelle ran away into the depths of the forest and hid herself. Zoe was distressed, and she followed Dryzelle into the forest because she loved her. Zoe asked all of the trees where Dryzelle was, because all the trees were Dryzelle's friends. The trees told Zoe where Dryzelle was, and Zoe went to find Dryzelle. When she found her, Dryzelle was crying with painful sobs. Zoe said to Dryzelle, "Why are you crying?" Dryzelle looked at Zoe, and joy filled her heart. But the joy was beaten down by fear, because Dryzelle thought nobody could love her. Zoe said to Dryzelle again, "Why are you crying?" Dryzelle said to Zoe, "I am crying because you are more beautiful than anything on Earth, and the other nymphs told you to hate me because I am ugly." After speaking, Dryzelle began to cry again, and she hid her face from Zoe. Tears came into Zoe's eyes because of Dryzelle's sorrow, because she loved Dryzelle. Zoe walked to Dryzelle and put a hand on Dryzelle's shoulder. Zoe felt that Dryzelle's body was cold and shaking, and she wrapped her arms around Dryzelle. Zoe whispered to Dryzelle, "I love you." Dryzelle cried into the night, and Zoe held her. There in the forest they slept, and Dryzelle was warm in Zoe's arms. The other nymphs hated Dryzelle more because Zoe loved her and not them.
