| How I create a Colored Commissioned Piece: |

| STEP 1: First I decide what size of wood I want to use. Then I sand the wood several times with different grits of sandpaper until it is very smooth with little grain left. I proceed to hand sketch or trace the picture onto the wood. |
| STEP 2: Next I take my woodburning tool and burn the picture into the wood. |

| STEP 3: Now I begin to apply the white highlights and lighter colors with my oil pencils. |
 |
| STEP 4: I start to add a darker shade of color by layering over the lighter shades. |
 |
| STEP 5: I continue to add darker colors by layering over the lighter colors. This process is very time consuming. It takes many hours to blend all the colors together to achieve just the right shade. |

| STEP 6: Now that the stems and leaves have been done, I begin to add color to the roses. Again laying the colors with my oil pencils to blend into the wood. |
