Friends  Tribute to Lynda
"How does one write a tribute to Lynda?  She was one of those rare people that you meet and instantly become fast friends. She and I spent countless hours laughing and chatting over so many topics. We supported each other through the death of our mutual friend Ross McTeer.  The woman was passionate about life about woodburning and about making sure anyone who had questions or needed tutoring received it. She never did anything half way.  I guess my greatest tribute to her would be to continue learning and growing and one of these days she will guide my hand to add COLOR to my burns! She always thought shed be around to see that day. For those of you who remember one of her favorite things to do was raise the glass (beer mug on chat)Lynda- I raise my glass to you"....love, Jo Schwartz

"I am so pleased to see the tributes to Lynda. I went to four of her
workshops ,three of them at her home. She made it look so easy but still
had the patience to teach an absolute novice. She had a great sense of
humour, was honest in her opinions-no false praise for your work but if
she felt you had done something well she was very quick to praise. I feel
that most members of the pyrography group know Lynda's work as an
artist but I feel very fortunate to have known her as a teacher. "
Best wishes, Page Steadman
"I never had the opportunity to meet Lynda in person but we both started burning at the same time and met in one of the many pyrography groups we both belonged to.  I always admired Lynda's ability to capture the spirit of the wild life that she burned as well as her zest for life.  She was an inspiration to everyone who's life she touched and she was always willing to help anyone who asked for it...sometimes even if you didn't.  Lynda always amazed me at her abilities to create such masterpieces and all with a single temperature burner.  Just amazing and when I dared to experiment in the world of the single temp burner and torch she was right there showing me how to do it!
She helped many people grow and learn even when she was in obvious pain and dealing with so much stress in her own life.  She never stopped giving or sharing and I know that she's now at peace with her beloved Chynna."  Nedra Denison
"I just started knowing about Lynda when she came back to the Woodburners site.. We became friends through email and the site.  We were both contributing artist to Ross McTee's web site.  She shared a moment in her life when she was recovering from the first surgery, with me.  I burned a 4x4 in cedar square with a monarch butterfly...she shared that she was recovering at home and had gone to take a snooze out in her yard in her recliner chair..when she woke up from her nap, the blanket she covered up with, was covered in Monarch butterflies.. hundreds of them... She had seen the squares I posted on the Woodburners site for our yearly quilt... after hearing the story of her butterflies, I knew I had to send it to her,, and sent her some extra squares of red cedar for her to burn on.. We had discussed the different woods, and I only burn on red cedar.. so she decided that since I sent her the one with the butterfly, that she needed to send me something she burned in return.. Several weeks later, I get a package in the mail,, and inside is a letter from Lynda and a square with one of her wonderful wolves on it..  I think it may have been one of the last things she  burned.. I feel as if I have lost a sister.. we never met, but her spirit is here with her wolf picture.. The square stays on my work table so she and Lobo can watch over me.  It was a real shame she left us so soon, and I never had the oppertunity to meet her in person.. but I know she shares with me and my burning is better because of her teachings."  Gayle Dobbs TwoHawks
