Danes Alumni in NCAA Ball -- Press Release May 21, 2002 -- Tim Husted
Many Danes Finish Off Strong NCAA Seasons

As a team that is focused on developing strong players who obtain college scholarships and succeed in NCAA softball, we always take pride in our alumni.  Here is a summary of the Danes in College in 2002.

Sara Mullen -- Soph. @ Denison University in Grandville, OH (NCAA - D3)

Coming off what was a decorated all-conf year in 2001, Mullen was injured after 7 games and most likely will recieve a medical redshirt for the year.  She was well on her way to a strong year batting .435 (10 for 23) with 3 2B's and 7 RBI's.  She also was 2-1 with a 1.40 ERA in 15 IP.

Jen Weller --- Jr. @ Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL (NCAA - D3)

In a down year for the Blue Jay's, Weller batted .227 staring 33 games.  She did have a .981 Fielding % in Center Field and was 6 for 8 stealing bases.

Amanda Sparks -- Jr. @ UW-Stevens Point (NCAA - D3)

Sparks led the Pointers with 19 RBI's and her .284 Batting Average, 3 Doubles, 1 Triple and 1 Home Run helped to lead the UWSP Offense.  Moving from DP to 1B due to an injury to her teammate, she had a .953 Fielding %.

Kal Lucas -- Sr. @ UW-Stevens Point (NCAA -D3)

Only saw limited time and batted .235 in 12 starts.  Senior Captain had what would be described as a bad deal considering that she has played for 5 coaches in 4 years at UWSP.

Char Koski -- Soph. @ Viterbo University in LaCrosse, WI (NAIA)

Full stats are not available on the web however Koski followed up her All Conf. Freshman year with success as well.  She was 6th in the MCC with 31 RBI's.  On the mound she was 8-4 with a 2.53 ERA in 12 App.  She had 60K's in 64 IP's and was named MCC Pitcher of the Week and MCC Player of the week.

Rachel Riopel -- Soph @ Gardner-Webb Unverisity in Boiling Springs, NC (NCAA-1)

Transfering mid-year, Riopel was the Team Offensive MVP and named to the 1st team All-Independent NCAA team.  Starting 61 games at SS, Riopel was .324 with a 13 2B's and 32 RBI's.

Stacie Reichert -- Fr. @ Gardner-Webb Unverisity in Boiling Springs, NC (NCAA-1)
