Introduction

It is without a single iota of guilt that I divulge this ancient text.  May the gods blast me into the Underworld as I type if they find this offensive.  If the paragraphs suddenly cease, you know what happened.

There are many altars in this world.  At each of them at any one time there may be gathered a few, or a million.  Some kneel and pray fervently, believing beyond belief that they and they alone are correct, that the God that they are praying to is the God of All Gods, the One and the True God.  Other altars are perhaps a little more lenient, bowing to the fact that religion, like all other things human, is flawed, especially when seen through human eyes and enacted with human hands.  But still, they pray to a God that cares not, the cosmic equivalent to a couch potato.

Religion is like a poison to this Earth.  Not all religions are vile, of course...  Religion, when entered into as a personal thing, can be very powerful and very meaningful to the individual.  It is the need and the incredible desire to force religion on others that has caused it to be like a cursed tide rising over the world.  And, the christian God is the very worst culprit of this crime, and quite possibly the most unique god ever to exist in religion.

The Romans had many.  So did the Greeks.  They had at least one god for everything under the sun (including the sun itself).  Wiccans believe in the Goddess and God, the Lord and the Lady, who in the past have been known by many names.  Cerunnos, Astarte, Artemis, Pan, Bast, and many many others.  The Shamans were guided by spirits.  The Goetics follow Solomon.  Religion, like all things in the Universe, become flawed when viewed and perceived through human eyes.  Humans rarely possess the beauty of the gift of Objectivity, and thus when they see these things, they attach their own thoughts and meanings.  They ruin the will of the Gods with the will of Themselves, for indeed.  The Will of Man is Law.  The Greed of Man has Precedent.  The Lust of Man is Foremost, the Cornerstone of All Power.  Forget humility.  Cast aside honor.  Lie.  Cheat.  Steal.  Fear no Hell, for Hell is the Realm in which we currently dwell, so it would seem.

Is it not odd that so many texts exist, that so many seals and sigils have passed from Gremoire to Gremoire, that visions have been seen, and yet the Supernatural no longer touches this world at all?  The Supernatural no longer has a place in this Realm.  Humans have abandoned the pursuit of Magick and embraced the pursuit of Technology, Money, and Power (which, in many ways, was the goal of a good deal of magick back in the day); show them to their very faces the proof that other worlds exist and they will scoff and not believe.  This is the horror for which there is no atonement; this is the terror that grips my heart like ice; that the people of this Realm refuse to believe, and thus all things worth believing in have ceased to be.

"All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."
IN THE BEGINNING, this Realm was the Perfect Void.  There was nothingness, a vast expanse of blackness as far as they eye could see.  This was the World of Demons, Demons who are older than many of the Gods, Demons who have lost their beginnings to the swirling pools of time and have proclaimed to be the brethren of Time Itself.

It was in this time that Fire was borne of the Demonic Will, and the Perfect Void was illuminated.  This illumination was like a beacon unto the Creatures of Light, the Angels, who saw from their Realm in the Upper Reaches that their dark brothers had in their possession a force of great power.  This they desired, and to the Perfect Void they traveled in a great horde to take from the Demons their greatest weapon and thus far their only creation.  The battle that ensued stirred the Void into a violent and swirling pool of Chaos, a Chaos that pulled matter into its core from the surrounding Realms.  The Higher Demons, gods of the Void, saw great potential here.  They infused the Chaos with their great fire; it exploded, sending the Angels back to the Upper Reaches and hurling many of the Demon Race to the Darkness Below.

The World was created in this great burst of matter, as well as all the stars and other planets.  The cosmic dance was viewed for the first time through Demon eyes.

When the Earth had cooled, the Demons walked on its surface and marvelled at the wonders of matter, which they could change and control at will.  They discovered the four Elementals, four separate races of creatures who had been pulled in from the next Realm over, and the Elements they controlled.  A fifth Element was also discovered; the Element of Spirit.  The Demons saw that when the four Elements were brought together in the right proportions, they invoked the fifth, and Life came to the barren wastes.

The Demons and Angels both had power over this new Element of Life.  They merged with it in varying degrees, they played with it and studied it like children pouring over new toys.  Of these mergings came some of the first Living Creatures.  The Fae (or Faeries) were born of Demonic mergings, as were the Djinn, Dragons, Gnomes, Centaurs, and many other beings.  Dwarves, Elves, Unicorns, Merfolk, and many others were the product of Angelic mergings.  From these experiments, the Angels and Demons learned to take physical forms and speak with physical tongues.
