Call it what you will
Bloom County, one of the greatest comic strips ever in print. It had it's humble beginnings (late 1970's) in the fervent imagination of, Berke Breathed, a student at the University of Texas. It ran in the school newspaper, "The Daily Texan", and was originally called Academia Waltz. It became a nationally syndicated strip December 8th, 1980. It appeared in over 1000 newspapers, was reprinted in several books (some of which became bestsellers) and in 1987 won a Pulitzer Prize. It's eclectic assortment of characters helped fuel it's widespread following. The last strip appeared August 6th, 1989, a sad day for all Bloom fans everywhere.
