In anitstrophe 2, the chorus talks about how man is fated to die. They say that it is a power from which we cannot escape and that the fate of man, his death, is both good and bad. The chorus starts to feel more frightened toward man's limitations because one of man's biggest limitations is his fate of death. Then the chorus talks about how Creon's city was run well with laws, but once they were broken, the city was reckless. "Never may the anarchic man find rest at my hearth" in this line, the chorus is saying how they wish that the reckless man never finds their house. They say this because they are scared of the limitations and letting a crazy person into your house would put limitations on man. |
