Chapter 4

Piper: girls, let's talk...did you notice Zac last night??? what was going on with him?

Alex: oh no, not Zac again…

I acted disinterestedly...Alex looked at me

Alex: the thing is that she talked about Zac all the way here

I was surprised; I never thought that Alex would open her mouth like that... I made an angry face but then I changed it to a big smile.

Piper :is that true?

she asked shocked

Alex: yes it is, look... when I went to pick her up, guess who was with her at home...

Piper: NOOOOOO!!!  don´t tell me it was Zac?

I looked at somewhere else trying to pretend it wasn’t a big deal.. but then Alex continued with her speech

Piper: so , you two? I mean you and Zac ... both of you had been acting very strange lately

I thought why overreact about something like that

I: I like him, I mean I think we treat each other better now

On the inside I couldn’t stop repeating Zac´s name...God, it was driving me crazy... What was going on with me.

Alex: oops I’ve forgot the most important thing...

I looked Alex … while I was drinking my raspberry juice

Alex: when he said goodbye, he GRABBED her by her waist and she blushed... can you imagine that?

Piper: Zac and her, together?

I:NO we’re not TOGETHER

I yelled…

Alex: Shhhh don´t raise your voice like that... is not like you are Kate or something

I: sorry girls.

Piper: Look, like I was saying, last night when you danced with that hottie, he was staring at you, and when you kissed that guy he drove mad, I mean REALLY mad

They begin mocking me

Piper: Well I’ll go on, Zac got angry, so he forced Kate to dance with him... she didn’t want to, you saw that right? She was very drunk

We nodded.

Piper: he practically grabbed her by her arm and threw her to the dance floor

Alex: girl, last night Zac was very jealous, he didn’t stop cursing Bruce all night, and when you two danced together we all noticed he was happier.

I: guys, I think you’re making this thing up.

They both stared at me, nobody else in this world knew me better than them.

Piper: something is going on with you and I don’t know what it is.

What was going on with me? That was the one million dollar question... It was Zac.... He was driving me insane.

Alex: you know... I think you have feelings for him, I’m pretty sure about that, because you hung up Bruce the phone just like that, you can’t stand Kate and last night I heard when you talked to Kate about the way she treats Zac and that you wouldn’t do that.

In that instant we heard a "HI".. I turned around and I saw Diana Hanson walking towards us... Piper whispered...

Piper: look, your mother in law is coming.

I blushed

Diana: hi girls!..

We said Hi to her, I felt very nervous for the first time in front of her, we asked her how she was and she sat with us to talk for a little while. She was buying Zoe some clothes and she was looking for a present to give Walker for his upcoming birthday... Diana grabbed my hand.

Diana: sweetie, I haven’t seen you in so long, why don’t you just come to the house one of these days... I need to talk to you.

I felt strange

I: to talk?  

Diana: yes ,I need to talk to you before you leave on Saturday to Utah.

She said very sweet.

Diana: If you like, you can come over tomorrow and have tea time with us, what do you think?

I: that would be very nice

Diana: great, so I’ll see you then.. at 5 o’clock...

 Alex and Piper just smiled

Diana: so girls, I leave you now, I have to go, you know, having a lot of kids is hard... Thank God Zac is babysitting Zoe right now, but I need to go and make dinner for the whole family.

She said goodbye and left

The girls mocked at me.

Piper: your mother in law loves you!!!!

 They laughed, it made me want to laugh too... I really loved Diana, she was a cool woman, she was my mom´s best friend since we first arrive to Tulsa... I saw her scarf; she forgot it on the table... I stood up and looked for her, the girls mumbled something,I couldn’t hear. ..

I: Diana, Diana!!!

I repeated over and over, until she turned around and saw me coming with her scarf.

Diana: oh dear... I don´t know where my mind is… Thanks so much.

She smiled.

I: it’s nothing really... it’s very cold outside and you need to be warm.

Diana: yes, I don’t want to be sick.

She laughed.

I: ok, I need to go back.

She grabbed me by my arm before i turned back

Diana: dear, by the way have you notice something bizarre about my son lately?

I was confused

I: mm which one?

Diana: haha, I guess you’re right, well there’s something unusual about Zac

I felt strange

I: unusual how?

Diana: I don’t know, he’s just weird you know... he’s sighting all day long,he sings more than usual...and he seems to be out of orbit…

I: I had no idea…

She nodded.

Diana: I need to go, don’t miss to our date, I’ll be waiting for you. …

I :I wouldn’t miss it for anything

 So I came back to the table... they made fun of me

Piper: So, is everything set up for the wedding?

 They laughed a lot, everybody around us looked at us with weird faces... we didn’t care at all.

Alex: Ok, Ok... Now seriously girl... how do you feel about him?

She asked me, while Piper was listening very closely... I stuttered...I didn’t know what to say.

I: well, the truth is that I don’t know.

I drank the rest of my juice.

I: I’m so confused, I don’t know what’s going on with me...Zac is…mmm the kind of guy you hate no matter what, You feel like you want to slap his face all the time or hit him... but lately I´ve been feeling like kissing him and hugging him....

That’s when I realized both of my friends couldn’t believe what they were hearing not did I... so I finished my speech.

I: and no matter what, I feel very attracted to him...

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing... I was accepting what I felt for Zac? To feel attracted to Zac? I thought that was impossible... Then we heard a loud and a very annoying voice...

Kate: BUT ZAC! HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU NOT TO CALL ME WHEN I´M DOING SHOPPING, LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

Yup, it was the infamous Kate. We saw her from the distance yelling at Zac on the phone... I looked down and the guys noticed that... They both grabbed my hands...

Alex: I’m sorry girly.

Alex said worried about me... Piper nodded.

Piper: Honey, you know you have us, I can imagine what’s going on inside your head right now…

I looked up and I knew my friends loved me very much, they did anything for me...our favorite quote was “one for all and all for one”...I just smiled... Kate walked in front of us without noticing us... She was still screaming to Zac...

Piper: Look, he’ll realize she isn’t worth it.. She plays with his feeling you know? No human being deserves the treat she gives him.

I: I know

I said disappointed.

Alex: But we’ll need to wait until that happens.

Alex stood up.

Alex: guys, we better get going...

We stood up, and we grabbed the hundreds of shopping bags we had... We looked at the time, it was almost 8...

I: what do we do now?

Alex: we should be in Lucas’s place by 9.

 We walked slowly to the parking lot, I went with Piper this time I put my bags in the backseat of her car. Then we arrived in about 10 minutes... I took the bags and we walked home... My mom was there.

Mom: Hi girls how are you?

She said hi to them, then we walked to my room and mom followed us.

Mom: a guy called Bruce has been calling you all afternoon sweetie.

Alex and Piper looked at each other, we were tired, so they laid on my bed.

I: yes mom... Look, next time he calls tell him that I’m out with my boyfriend or something.

My mom was shocked.

Mom: do you have a boyfriend?

The three of us laughed, my mom didn’t understand anything

Mom: are you dating Zac?

I:NOOOOOOO.

I raised my voice.

I: mom , is not that... Bruce is a guy I met last night in the club but I’m not interested in him anymore... So if you tell him I’m out with my boyfriend he’ll stop calling me... got it?

Mom: Ahhh I got it baby.. Now I see what you meant.

She nodded

I: thanks

My mom was leaving my room but then she came back

Mom: Will you show me what you bought later???

I: Sure, absolutely

I smiled

I: mom could you please shut the door?

She left and shut the door behind her... I laid on my bed next to the girls to rest for a bit... We were exhausted.

I: guys, what am I going to do?

Piper: first of all you need to be sure about your feelings for Zac... You have to see if it is just a simple attraction or if it is something deeper than that, and then we’ll help you to figure it out about something... But for now just calm down... no complications... Leave everything to us… We’ll take Kate away from Zac´s life.

We laughed... I went to the bathroom and when I came back from it I saw Alex on the window doing signs to Ryan who was at Lucas’s bedroom… We were next door neighbors so whenever we needed something we just made signs without doing anything else, like using the phone for example. I saw Zac standing there too... Alex turned around.

Alex : Look girl, your Romeo is there, I bet you’re dying to see him, are you?

I just laughed, I really wanted to see him... Zac did some signs that I didn’t understand.

Piper : what are you doing?

I: I don’t know, Zac is trying to say something that I don’t understand...

Piper: he’s saying we need to hurry up!.

We grabbed our coats... I grabbed my keys and we walked to the next door house.
Ryan opened the door and Alex ran and kissed him... We saw each others every day; it was something similar to "Friends".
Piper did the same, she ran towards Lucas, it was nice to see those two couples so happy and in love. We all thought Piper and Lucas would get married sooner than we expect.
I came in and said hi to everybody, but Zac wasn’t there... I looked for him around and then I saw the bathroom door open…

Zac: hello

My stomach was a mess.. I felt nervous again.

I: mmm hello.

I answered nervously, I could barely look at him right to his eyes because I felt my cheeks blushing...2 seconds after that I saw Kate coming out from the same bathroom where Zac just came out, I could notice they had been "together" their clothes were messy.

Kate: baby

Zac turned around

Zac: what do you want?

 I felt like I was having a heart attack there... I really wanted to die, a few moments back I accepted my feelings for Zac and now he was with the worst woman on earth.

Kate: aw you guys came.

She said buttoned on her blouse…

Kate: I thought you girls weren’t coming. It’s so nice to have you all here.

She said cynical, I gave her a disdainful look, I left those two alone... the girls noticed what happened, Zac looked at the floor . I looked at him and moved my view to somewhere else…

The girls begin to mock Kate.

Alex: We saw you today Kate

 She was surprised

Kate: really?? Where?..

Alex: well(Alex said cynical ) first of all we heard you- ..

Kate looked very strange

Kate: what do you mean you heard me first?

Piper: oh, is not hard to understand.

 Piper said sitting on a couch...
 

Piper:The three of us were drinking those delicious naturals juices at the mall and we heard when you yelled at Zac on the phone...believe me, you were very far but we heard you anyway....you have a very annoying voice…did you know that?

Everybody looked at Zac and he felt embarrassed, that’s when I took revenge.

I: Zachary, I don’t know if you enjoy dating that kind of people... Do you really like to be humiliated like that? Everybody knows how she treats you.

I sat and crossed my legs, Zac looked at me angrily but he said nothing... I knew he was mad at me for saying that, but that didn’t have any comparison about what I felt when I saw both of them coming out from the bathroom together with messy clothes.

Kate: I’m not willing to hear you all bitches!!!!

She looked at Zac, he was ashamed, and she always thought she was the big thing.

Kate: Zachary we won’t go to Utah with them.

She grabbed him by an arm to take him out of Lucas’s home

Zac: leave me alone!

She was shocked to hear Zac speaking like that.

Zac: I’m old enough to make my own decisions, I don’t depend of you or anybody else...Can’t you see you’re humiliating me once again???

 She was mad.

Kate: alright, if you want it that way... goodbye.

She stood up, grabbed her belongings and left slamming the door.

I yelled at her

I: Take care Kate, she you soon!

The girls laughed but the guys didn’t say a word… it was a tense moment.

Zac said he needed some time alone so he told Lucas he would be upstairs.

In a way, I felt happy, I made Zac realize how controlling Kate was with him...I played with the guys some playstation and Ryan went to the first floor bathroom.
 

I: Lucas may I use upstairs bathroom?

Lucas: sure sweetheart, you can use it.

I went upstairs and I looked for Zac...I knocked Lucas’s bedroom door because that was where Zac was, I stepped in and I saw Zac laying in Lucas’s bed , he was crying... I came closer to him.

I: Do you need anything??

Zac: Leave me alone!!! I don’t want to see anybody!!!!

 I came out of the bedroom... I felt hurt by Zac... I walked to the bathroom and when I was about to close the door Zac put his foot so I couldn’t close the door.

Zac: I’m sorry

 I saw his face and it was all red for crying... I grabbed his hand and walked him to Lucas’s room... I closed the door behind us... I sat on the edge of the bed... he laid by my side...

I caressed his hair... it was so soft and it smelled great... I stared at him very lovely. How blonde his hair was and so nice... that was the moment when I knew I was falling in love with Zac...and nobody was there to forbid that...

I: Zac  sweetie, what’s wrong, let me help you

He turned up

Zac: I’m sorry, I don’t know what I see in her.

I looked at him with a sweet face and I tried to comprehend what he was confessing me, he grabbed my hand and kissed it...He grabbed it strongly until I laid by his side hugging him.

I held him even stronger; he looked straight to my eyes.... His brown eyes were red for crying so much.... With one of my hand I removed softly his fallen tears from his cheeks , I kissed his forehead and caresed him until he calmed down... he was such a baby... even though it wasn’t a good moment for him I thought he looked amazing...I never thought I’d spend a day like that with him.

I: Do you feel better now????

I asked him quiet, he looked at me.

Zac: yes I do.

 He nodded and rested his head on my chest, it felt amazing. I wanted to tell him how I felt for him in that moment... How much I loved him and that I wouldn’t give up for the love I felt for him. He looked up to my eyes, his eyes didn’t have any more tears, He sat on the bed, so did I... That’s when I saw the door closing... somebody was watching us.... but I didn’t know who.

Zac: thank you very much

He stood up, he walked to the bathroom, and I followed him behind to see if he was alright.

I: Zac

 I grabbed his neck and kissed him on the cheek... I wanted to kiss him on the lips but I didn’t...

I: You deserve to be with someone who loves you, respects you and who doesn’t treat you like that...

He gave me a weak

Zac: thanks, you’re an amazing woman; you deserve someone who treats you like a princess.

He kissed my cheek softly and I left him alone.
I walked down the stairs and for some reason that moment made me happy... maybe someday I would have a chance to be with him...
