| We should measure the importance of our priorities by how they are measured by God. What's important to Him should be important to us, right? Right. Outer (physical) beauty, is not a priority to God. He doesn't love us more or less by our appearance on the outside. He healed a man with a horrendous leprosy disease (Matthew 8:1-4). Leprosy, as many of you know, doesn't exactly improve a person's appearance. Matter of fact, he was probably pretty disgusting. Limbs hanging, various body parts bleeding.... But Jesus saw past that. Completely. Physical beauty, as he's proved, isn't important to Him. But, that doesn't mean that we, as girls don't want to feel beautiful, am I right? Of course! All of us want to be confident in ourselves. And although, we may never quite measure up to airbrushed, starving supermodels, we can still be beautiful. There's nothing wrong with learning to put your best face forward, but it is wrong to obsess about it. God made each one of us with the exact features he wants us to have. Don't like your nose? Well, what would you say if I told you that your nose is part of God's plan for you? Sound too far-fetched for you? Then what do you think about Psalm 139:11-12? "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. . ." He knit you together. Paying attention to every detail of your body, knowing your needs and purpose. |

| STEP 1 After washing your hair, comb it into a side part and apply mousse. STEP 2 Turn your head upside down and dry the hair with a blow-dryer, but don't dry it all the way-- only about 80 percent. STEP 3 Using a large round brush, section the hair into three parts. First, grab the hair on the center of the top of your head from ear to ear and clip it. Next, do the same at the front of your head, from temple to temple. Finally, clip the back. STEP 4 Remove the clip from the top section and, using the large round brush, lift the hair at the roots as you direct heat there. Repeat with the front section, then the back. STEP 5 Don't brush or comb through the hair during or after the lifting process. Let the hair fall naturally. If necessary, use your fingers to separate it. STEP 6 Using a light touch, straighten the ends of the hair with a flat iron or straightening iron. Press only the lower inch or two of hair straight. STEP 7 Apply a nongreasy pomade or hair spray to keep flyaways down. If you're using pomade, use it sparingly: Apply a small amount of it to your hands and lightly pat it over the top layer of your hair, being careful not to press down too hard. (www.ivillage.com) |
