Murder on New Year’s Eve
The doors closed behind her, as she left her friends in the pub;
The party stilled bubbled within, filled with people:
She did not feel like celebrating;
New Year’s Eve... drinking...dancing...music...neon...
Lights were green; so she hurried across the street and...
Peals of pitched laughter sliced the night air.
She continued down the path.
Strangers conversed, on the pretext of a New Year’s Bash!
She turned left into an alleyway, towards the car-park, as...
The band played soft music, drowning in the sounds of...
A car, rounding the bend, screeching as it came to a halt; ensued by...
Warm chatter, the chink! of wine-glasses, mingling in a blur of...
Scuffling footsteps, a struggle and a muffled cry...
Semi-drunkenness. The time was 11:59...
As she was dragged into the car. It drove on...
And the party-goers began to chant. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six...
Till they reached a dark corner. Five times they stabbed her...
Five, four, three, two, one...
And she was dead.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
