Ok... Here's the scoop. I will be teaching Intermediate Line on Thur nights in the Private 3'rd floor bar (The Blue Room) from 7:30-9:00. This time slot will focus on Teaching new dances and Reviewing previously taught dances.
Then from 9:00 -11:00 we will hit the Main Floor where I will DJ/VJ all your Line Dance Favorites. This is Open Dancing. "Open Dancing" is a term used to let all line dancers know they are welcome. In other words, you don't have to take classes at BO's to join us on the dance floor on Thur Night. Just come out and dance and have fun. Make requests, bring your own music, no problem. I will mix up the Levels of Dances based on who comes out to dance. I won't have a pre determined play list like other DJ's, I will be doing my best to read the crowd every week and play what you want to hear
Now... for those of us that have been line dancing for a long time we have seen a lot of our favorite dance places close due to lack of revenue. On Thur nights I will be paid by my students during class with the standard $5.00/person. While I am DJ'ing I will be working for Tips. This allows me to make some money for my effort and also allows the Line Dancers to come without having to pay the cover charge. This will help Bo's by allowing all revenue made from drink and food sales to fund the bar and not have their profits go to paying me, the DJ.
Here's the scoop... part 2 Once again for those of us that have experienced losing our dance floors due to lack of funds by the dancers, I am going to try to generate money for BO's by introducing a DJ switch at 11:00. Most of us older dancers are usually done by 11:00 on a Thur night. There is still 3 business hours left. I hope that by makeing a switch to a Younger, Energetic DJ that is tuned into the Pop Culture and still likes Country Music that he will be able to draw a second wave of costomers to continue the rest of the night. I'm an old Fart so I'll be home snuggled up and sleeping.
The second DJ will be paid by a portion of the cover charge that will start at 10:00. This cover charge shouldn't effect the line dancers because by 10:00 I think if your there to line dance you'll be there before the cover charge starts. Once again this format is designed around the "FACT" that a bar can not sustain a business based on revenue from line dancing only. This "Fact" is why so many other bars in this area have closed. Here is a list of the one I have danced at:
Silver Spur - Rochester Cactus Jacks - New Baltimore East Side Diamonds & Spurs - Clinton Township Texas Star aka Dominicks - Waterford High Kicker - Pontiac Desperado's - Mt. Clemens
All of these bars had great line dancing crowds. They just couldn't generate enough money from "Us" line dancers. We have to be willing to pay a cover charge and be willing to pay for water and non alcoholic drinks. We all have to eat.... so let's eat at BO's.
So here's the deal in simple terms. Use it or Lose it. Bo's Management, Ownership, Staff, DJ's & Instructors are all committed to doing our very best. But...(yes I start sentences with "but") without your support and the support of the non line dancing crowd Bo's could end up on the list above.
So tell all your Friends and fill the seats and tables. Buy some food and buy some drinks. Bring in friends to play Pool upstairs while you dance on the main floor.
PARKING!!!! Bo's has a parking lot right next door. The lot is Well lit, Safe, Located at the corner of M-59 & S. Saginaw. Park your car and walk 10 steps to the door of BO's
Pass the word that BO's is where we want everyone to be. See you there. |
