The Black family is one of the oldest magical families able to trace their ancestry back to the Middle Ages. The Black family motto "Toujours Pur" translates as always pure, a refelction of their obsession with their pure blood superiority. The family tree was donated to an International Book Aid charity by JK Rowling in January 2006.
