The tour people took us by bus to Chateux Chillon. When we arrived there I realized were were only five minutes from the hotel. Later I discovered we could have walked there.

This set of photos certainly isn't my most artful arrangement; however, in the interests of getting something posted... I didn't take too many pictures here because it was dark inside. This place must have been really beautiful in its time. It still is today.

It was 70 degrees out the day we visited this place and it was darn cold down in the donjon. Looking out those barred windows I could only imagine what it must've been like to be a prisoner in the middle of winter. We climbed up to the highest tower - people back then were short - had to keep ducking my head. There was an exhibit of armor and chain mail. Did you know the finer the chain mail the more money the wearer had?

Then I figured out why we were on the bus.....a tour through Montreux and Vevey brought us to the wine country where we stopped for a wine tasting. The Swiss don't export their wine - it's mostly all consumed within the country. The area reminded me of the Napa Valley except much steeper. The building with the wisteria is the winery we visited. It seemed to me their white wine was better than their red. They served some tasty bread and cheese to go along with the wine.

Then it was time to explore the lake front - Lac Leman (sometimes known as Lake Geneva).
