"
Once On This Island"
Hartford Youth Players Theater

The story line is a bit trite: upper class vs. lower, doing your duty or following your heart, self-sacrifice for the good of thte one you love, Gods having fun messing with the lives of mortals.

Quick plot out-line, a poor girl sees a rich boy get in a car wreck. The girl nurses him back to health and they fall in love. (The was brought on by a bet between two gods.)
He has to go back home and she goes with him, she sees his house, his cars, his fiancee. Oops!
She runs away, but after some time passes she goes back to see him. The scene she finds is her love playing with his young child. As she watches the gods decide to let her be with her love forever, they change her into a tree so she can watch over him and his children. Aww.

I thought the ending rather sappy, but then again the play was one cliche after another, so...
The one thing that really kept my interest was the gods. They were so well cast and did such a remarkable job. Thay really saved the show.
