Pointe Shoes
Finding the right pointe shoe is not always easy! Everyones feet are different.  Here are a few basic steps to finding the right pointe shoe.
1.  Make sure your toes are not over lapping in the pointe shoes.  If so then you need a bigger width.
2.  If your foot is sliding in the shoes you need a smaller size.
3. You should be able to pinch the back of the shoe (near your heel).  If you can't pinch it the shoe is too small for you but if you have too much material you can pinch the shoe is too big.
4.  If your toes are in pain just standing in your pointe shoes you either need a different size or need a different type of shoe.

Remember there are many shoes out there for all different types of feet. So keep trying on shoes! You will find the right pair for you one day!!!
Shanks
Pointe shoes come in hard, regular, and soft shanks.  Depending on wear you are ordering they will have either hard or soft, or hard or regular.  However some pointe shoes only come in one shank.  Beginning dancers prefer the soft or regular shanks.  A more experienced dancer or a dancer with high arches normally prefers hard shanks because they break in shoes faster.
