Journal of Japan
Right now I am just laying the frame work for how this is going to appear later. I doubt I'll keep this same background and stuff. But I want to keep an running journal of the things I do while I'm in Japan. That way, you all can keep up with me and perhaps anyone else who is thinking of doing this program can see what its like.
Let me give you a quick run down of what I'm going to be doing in Japan, what the program is about and everything:

The program is through Michigan University at the Japan Center (JCMU) in Hikone which is several hours from Tokyo to the east on the main island. It is called Environmental Sciences in Japan (ESJ for short) and, as it was explained to me, deals with everythign from ecological concerns to environmental toxins and biological concerns, diseases and such.

I am hoping to gain experience in environmental toxicology and how these toxins affect human biological processes. I have done research in a lab at Texas A&M where we studied how industrial chemicals got into the environment and acted as estrogens in humans and how that brought about various problems with breast and ovarian cancers, and lowered sperm counts. I found it very interesting and hope to broaden my knowledge along these lines

Another thing that I couldn't feel complete wihtout is the prospect of international travel. Ideally, I will find a venue through which the studies I mentioned coincide with internation travel and research. Perhaps I can find a Japanese research company to work for later or university to go to for graduate school.

Of course, it won't be all work. ^_^ Becoming bilingual will kick ass. And I also plan to go to dance studios, continue studying judo, and I want to learn their cooking and calligraphy. I'm an egg, and traveling to Asia has been a dream to me for so long now.

It would be really nice to hear from everybody while I'm here in Japan. So, when you drop by, sign my guest book to just drop a note or something, lets me know that you are keeping up with me and haven't forgotten about me while I'm away. Thanx!! ^_^
