So You Want to Be a Slave?

arani has seen many girls come to Gor, for a variety of reasons. she will try to address some of those reasons here.

Perhaps a girl has been a submissive in the D/s rooms, and has heard of Gor from one of her friends or from one of the other denizens of that world. the girl has heard stories of how Gorean Masters are stricter than those she has encountered before, that a deeper level of service is required. For one reason or another, she craves the control of a strong Man. she may not know exactly what Gor is, or what will be demanded of her, but something in her draws her here to find out what it is all about.

arani will say that she completely understands what the above-described submissive feels. arani has talked to many girls who came to Gor from the D/s world, some with preconceived notions that they later found to be false, some with full knowledge of what they will find here, some with only a vague inkling of what they will be exposed to. arani had her first experience with submission in the D/s rooms--"got her feet wet," so to speak. arani herself came from that world.

To these girls, arani will say this: The level of submission that was demanded of you in the D/s world is only a taste of what will be expected of you here. Even what is known as a Total Power Exchange, or slavery in the D/s world, is different from what you will encounter in Gor. (See follow-up article here) In this kind of a reiationship, there is an element of choice that is not present in Gor. A sub/slave in the D/s world has made a conscious choice to be what she is. A Gorean slave's only choice is to accept her true nature, and to acknowledge what is termed as the "natural order," whereby men are naturally the dominant force in the world, where women are submissive by nature and not by choice.

arani considers the submission given by many (but not all) subs/slaves in the D/s world to be only "partial submission," when contrasted with what is required of a slave in Gor. There, you may have been allowed limits. You may have been allowed to say, "I will submit to you, but not when you tell me to do such-and-such." These limits were probably discussed with your Dominant, and negotiated, before a collar was offered or accepted. Well, in Gor you will not be allowed such limits. You will be expected to serve whenever, and however, a Master demands. If a Master orders you to do something that is distasteful to you, or frightening, or that you've never done before, you will be given no recourse other than to obey. If you admit to the Master that you've never done such a thing before, or that the prospect of it frightens you, He may be a little more patient with you. Then again, He may not. That will be His decision to make.

In the D/s world, a submissive is often required to serve only the Dominant whose collar she wears. In Gor, there are slaves who are reserved for the use of one Master, however this is the exception rather than the rule. Here, a slave is expected to be pleasing to All. Unless your Master has specifically restricted you from doing so, you will be expected to offer service to all of the Free--and that means full service, be it public or private. This one finds that her joy comes from being pleasing to the Free. Yes, she much prefers to serve her own Master. But she also knows that, by serving others willingly, she honors her own Master. she shows the rest of Gor that her Master's property is well-trained.

In the D/s world, there is a concept that respect must be earned. In Gor, a slave does not have the right to pick and choose who she will or will not respect. A slave must show respect for all of the Free. All Men are to be addressed as Master and all Free Women are to be addressed as Mistress or Free Woman, whichever they prefer. It is not the place of a slave to judge who is or isn't honorable, or a "true Gorean," before she serves Them. Now, it is true that there are Free Persons that a slave may respect to a greater degree than Others, but she must still show respect for even those whom she does not enjoy serving for one reason or another. (A slave most definitely should do some evaluation of a Master before she takes His collar, however. This will be discussed elsewhere.)

There are many other differences between the D/s world and Gor, but arani will not elaborate here. There are also many similarities. she will say that she has encountered many girls who have come to Gor from this world, craving to give of themselves more fully. However, a girl must also guard herself as she can. she must arm herself with knowledge, with a full understanding of what is to be expected of her. she must be cautious about accepting a collar, because once that collar is in place she will have lost all rights to make her own decisions. arani welcomes those girls to this site, and hopes that what they read here will be of help.

arani means in no way to imply that D/s subs/slaves are "bad," and that Gorean slaves are "good." We all have our role to play in life, we all are created differently. this one knows many subs who are wonderful men/women, and who are absolutely devoted to their Dominants. The Gorean lifestyle is not for everyone, and she believes a person should feel no shame in admitting that they are not driven to submit in the way that a Gorean slave does. But she DOES feel that we should all accept what we are, and not try to be something else. If your belly truly burns to be a kajira/kajirus, then arani welcomes you. But if you have any doubts, now is the time to face them.

arani has found that there is a second kind of girl who comes to Gor. This is a girl who has little to no knowledge of the D/s world, or of submission in any form. Perhaps she has heard vague stories of Gor, or perhaps she is just surfing the chat rooms and stumbles into a Gorean tavern and finds something that interests her and leads her to want to learn more.

To these girls, arani would like to offer the same advice she gave above. she will also offer even stronger warnings for these girls to take the time to learn what will be expected of them, for their own protection and peace of mind. This is not a game. It is a very real lifestyle that is practiced both on and off line by a large number of people around the world. To be an active part of that lifestyle, one must know all there is to know about it, and search her heart to decide if this is what she really is.

Then, there is a third type of person who comes to Gor: the person who is looking for a little fun and excitement, who thinks that this is just another game. To this person, arani would respectfully say. . . go play your games somewhere else. Yes, there is an element of role-play in on-line Gor. However, the difference here is that the role-playing is a means to an end. This means that the role-playing allows us to interact with others who share our beliefs, and to meet and form close ties to others who participate in this lifestyle. It is not something we do strictly for fun and amusement.

this one has shared the following snippet with many new slaves. When you serve a Master on line, when you bring Him a mug of blackwine or a goblet of ka-la-na, what are you really serving? you are sitting in front of a computer screen, so you can't really bring him a drink that in all actuality doesn't exist in this world. What you are doing is serving yourself. you are demonstrating your submission, showing your willingness to follow orders, to learn the large amount of information that it is necessary for slaves to digest.

Unfortunately, there are many who come to Gor, slave and Free alike, for quick cyber-sex. Yes, a slave is to serve all, whenever and however she is ordered, unless her Master prohibits it. And yes, this one enjoys serving in the furs. But that is not what Gor is based on. There is much more to Gor than just sex. Will you take the time to watch, and learn, and discover for yourself what Gor is all about?

Well, these are just a few of a girl's thoughts regarding how and why a new slave comes to Gor. There are many other reasons, and the opinions stated above are just that.
