Cybersex:
How does it contribute to a Master/slave relationship?

Sex--it's an almost inherent part of the on-line Gorean lifestyle. Invariably, when you go into a Gorean chat room you will see some naked or barely-dressed slave serving or dancing, typing out sexually explicit maneuvers that would make any more-inhibited woman blush to witness, let alone perform. Often, a Master will have a slave on his lap, engaging in activities that might well get Him banned from some Earth bars. This play may eventually lead to the Master taking the girl to an alcove for more intimate pleasures, or in some rooms he may even use her in public.

arani has had people who are unfamiliar with the Gorean lifestyle and philosophies confront her with the accusation that Gor is just a playground for men and women who want to get a little easy cybersex. Well, she would have to admit that there are those who come there for that reason. But, as anyone who truly embraces the philosophies and ways of Gor would tell you, it's not just about sex. There's far more to it than that.

Yes, we Goreans are by nature very sensual people. We embrace our sexuality fully, and do not try to hide it. When a woman comes into the full realization of her slavery, she finds that this awakens feelings and needs that she wasn't aware of before, or that she has formerly repressed. A slave will very often feel a profound sexual stimulation in the presence of a strong Master, who has no qualms about exerting his dominance. arani once had a friend who would nearly have an orgasm every time a particular Master came into the room--whether he actually paid any attention to her or not. By the same token, arani has had Masters tell her that it is very arousing to have a beautiful and sensual woman kneeling at his feet, ready to obey His every command. That is not to say that every interaction between a Master and a slave involves sex; that's simply not true.

So, what purpose does this cybersex play? There are a number of different needs met here, both for the Master and the slave. arani will not presume to speak for the Masters, but she will instead try to provide some possible explanations for this behavior in slaves.

Firstly, it provides a relatively safe environment for a woman to experiment and to discover just what this thing called slavery is all about. arani feels a genuine need, from deep within her very being, to be pleasing to all. Pleasing in every way. However, she is not foolish enough to lie down for every man who approaches her on the street and orders her to do so. If she did, she would be exposing herself to very real dangers--things like AIDS and other sexually-transmitted diseases, as well as a risk of becoming pregnant. In addition, she has a career to think of--the administration of the school where she teaches would almost certainly have a problem with her behavior. The on-line venue provides her an opportunity to satisfy this need to serve, and yet still feel safe.

When it comes to a slave who is collared to a Master, there are other things to be considered. arani is blessed to live with her Master. But often the people involved in these relationships live a fair distance apart. While they may see each other physically as time and other commitments allow, this may be only infrequently. arani lived 700 miles from her first Master, and they managed to get together about once every six weeks. In some cases it is not possible or practical for the Master and slave to meet in the "real world" at all. In one particular situation that arani is aware of, the Master lives in the U.S., and his slave lives in Australia. Or, it may be that one or both parties is married off-line, and this precludes any kind of interaction other than the on-line variety.

It is important for some Masters and slaves to have some sort of simulated physical contact, be it actual sex or just a touch. This can fill a void that is created by the actual physical distance between them. It can be a way to share and keep intimacy alive when they cannot be near each other. Now, anyone who has been involved in an off-line Master/slave relationship can tell you that "cyber" is not nearly as good as the real thing. But sometimes it's better than nothing at all. It can be very comforting, when you are missing your Master and craving to be at His feet again, to close your eyes and imagine that you are there, where you so want to be. And His words only serve to make the fantasy seem that much more real. Now, this certainly depends on the Master and slave involved; some relationships will need this kind of interaction more than others. Some will not need it at all.

Another purpose that can be served by such interactions is the training of a slave. Very often, a Master will use such exercises to bring out the fantasies laying dormant in his slave, and causing her to embrace a side of her nature that she has not been aware of before. It can also make her familiar with what He expects of a slave, and what kinds of play He enjoys engaging in. By the time a slave actually meets her Master for the first time, she can be made well aware of how He likes to use a woman, and can visualize in her own mind how she would and should respond to such usage. The Master can also learn from His slave what she has been exposed to in the past and what might cause her fear, so that He can better prepare her for what is to come.

arani's Master does not chat. However, He does allow her to do so on a limited basis. During the time that she spends on line, He encourages her to serve fully. One of the reasons that He does so is that it keeps his slave in a perpetual state of sexual need, so that when He does decide to use her she is that much more ready. It might also be that she would learn something, while serving another, that she could use to improve her service to Him. And arani admits that she enjoys being used in such a way. she derives a certain satisfaction in knowing that she has been pleasing to a Master, and has done as her Owner commands. However, if He were to one day restrict her for his use alone, she would gladly comply with this as well, and feel privileged to be so reserved.

So, how does cybersex contribute to a Master/slave relationship? Well, invariably that will depend on the Master and slave involved. For some, it is not at all a part of their relationship. For others, it is a large part. arani has presented a few of these purposes here, although there are undoubtedly others. As with all relationships, a man and a woman must define that relationship based on their own individual needs.
