BREAK DANCE
BY: Amy Boeckman

Breakdance(B-boying, B-girling)  Drills:(up rocks, top
rocks)
1. Four counts. Step over with right foot in front,
arms back and chest out a little when you kick/step
it forward. Retract arms to chest when you bring foot
back to the middle. Do the same to the left side.
(Right, left, right left)
2. Kick straight forward with right foot. Step right
foot infront of left. Step left out to left. Do the
same to the right.
3. Like 1. except your going on the side and bringing
your arms out. Add attitude!!

Six Step:
Sit so you're crouching. Stay on the balls of your
feet. Put your left hand to the side of you and lean
on it a little.
Put your left leg out straight infront of you. Bring
your left leg around your right foot/leg. bring both
your legs up. you can have
both your hands infront of you for better balance or
you can use one hand if you think your balance is good
enough. slide left leg through
your left arm and right leg. slide your right leg
through your left arm and left leg and bring left leg
around/behind right leg. Go back to crouching position
and repeat as many times as you like.

"C"'s or Fakes:
You can add this practically into anything. I'll try
and add it into the six step. Start by crouching and
go to the position where you have your left hand
beside you and your left leg stretched out before you.
With your right leg still folded or in the crouching
position, bring it over to your left knee and twist
your left leg on your big toe. You can have both hands
on the same side or anywhere it makes you feel
comfortable. Just remember right after your fakes your
going into your six step!! Switch hands and legs so
now your
right leg is straight infront of you and your left leg
is still folded or in the crouching position. Do the
same to the right. Then go back to left. After your
third fake or "C" go into your six step
or whatever move you want.

Freeze:
You can really do anything you want with a freeze. Joe
and Murff taught us a simple one. If your right
handed, place your right elbow and tricep into your
side. Same as left except with your left arm in your
left side.
lean over so your hand is supporting you up and make
your left/right hand(depending on whatever ones free)
wherever you need it for balance. bring your whatever
legs ontop up. If your not sure or not whether you
want
to bring both legs up, then just leave your other foot
on the ground supporting you. or you could also put
your knee down or both your feet with the foot that
was suppose to go up behind you. Whatever makes you
comfortable.
Add your own style to every breakdance move!!

Routine:
Really simple routine Murph taught us. Just 2 counts
of 8, but its really cool!!
This can go to "You make me sick" by Pink or really
any song. Just make it go to the beat!
(Standing straight/attitude)
1and. Bring right leg out to right side (arms can go
with your leg or whatever you want to do with your
arms. Make it funky!)
and bring it back to left
2 and. Bring left leg out to left side Bring left leg
back to right. (its better to have your feet shoulder
width apart)
3. kick left leg out infront of you.
4. Switch feet so right foot is infront of left.
5. (try and make this all one movement, if you cant,
make it look like its just one count) Roll your head
forward across your chest and at the same time move
your feet to face the left side. Make your right arm
bent near your head
and your left arm bent near your side.
6 and. Step out with left leg n bring it back in
7. crouch down with your left leg behind your right.
8. spin up and try to face left with right leg behind.

1. Kneel down so its like your going to ask someone to
marry you. Make sure your left leg is bent infront of
you and your right is bent under you.
2. Slide left leg under you so your sitting on your
bent knees/legs.
3. slide right leg infront of you.
4. put left hand on left side and lean on it.
5. Do a "C"/fake to the right side.
6. put both legs straight infront of you so your
sitting with your legs straight infront of you.
7. roll to the left and get prepared to do your
freeze.
8. Freeze!! Hold it as long as you want to.

Remember, breakdance you can do anything to the moves.
Add your own style to them. Make them different!! I
want to give props to the great breakdancers that
taught me this: Joe and Murph. You guys are the best!!
