| Britney's 1999 MTV VMA Performance --from Amelia Payne If you aren't a dancer then you might not know that a ballchange is just "step step." I used the term a lot in this, so if you didn't know what it is, now you should. If you did, good. lol. Britney's part... 1. (starts on "oh baby baby") kick bent R leg front w/ arms pushing front, R leg kicks to attitude w/ arms swinging overhead, L arm circles around head to cross on chest then R arm circles around head to chest, jump to face R w/ arms crossed and punched down, beat 4 counts. face front, R arm across chest and down, knee spin stand, walk 4x, step out w/ arms behind head and hold until the pause before "I shouldnt have let...", w/ arms behind head step together and bring R arm to other side and back around (confusing part. bring R arm over to left while still at head then it bounces back to the right. use the video for this if you dont get it) then w/ L arm. jump to R foot leaning R, turn and step a few times, body roll looking R, thrust 2x w/ arms in daggers, walk. on "Hit me" punch R arm out to side, "baby" clean up, bring arms over head to crossing down in front and look down w/ feet apart "stop", "DJ" spin backwards on L to legs apart. 2. after "right now..." (this is the 'punching' section. to be perfectly honest, i dont know this part. you can make it up cause it's hard to get exact and it's really not that important :P). point L/R/ both up, walk front 2x, on 3rd punch front R to make a nine with L arm bent touching R elbow, swing across body to L w/ wrists crossed, swing and roll arms up to head (L to R hip, R to head and step out on R leg), step back together, step out on L w/ rib cage circle and back to standing normally, hold. 3. bend down, R arm bent up w/ L arm down, switch, switch again to L down w/ wrist flexed and R up, touch R down then out to side flexed, look R, swing R down and L to front, swing L down and R to head and nod 2x. stand and bring arms to chest and swing R arm out to side when leaning R, step L and look front then left, circle R arm overhead 2x while turning back. 4. facing L bring R leg up bent w/ arms to near face, put foot down, circle head back front back,, turn to face R and bring L leg up bent w/ arms to near face, put foot down and circle head back front back. clean up to legs apart w/ arms down and slightly away from body, twist upper body to L w/ R flexed and out straight and L arm in front of face, twist to face R (This is without moving feet). switch arms to R on head (at hairline) and L behind you as you turn while kinda bouncing to the beat when turning, bring arms out to sides halfway through turn. they're freestyling, just being crazy... 5. "when I'm not..." lean R w/ L leg out and R arm up to near side of face, step and kick L leg out and push arms front, step together w/ arms on back of head loooking down and swing R leg around so you turn to face R, cross L leg over and turn the rest of the way around. pop R knee and walk to new spot. "give me a sign..." bounce from foot to foot w/ arms pumping and rounded at sides (this reminds me of a chicken...dont ask me why), step R, L, R, L (slowly), "it's britney spears baby..." bounce w/ legs apart w/ arms circling to front when leaning in that direction (meaning when leaning L, L arm moves to front, R when at R) 8 counts to L and 8 counts to R side bouncing, run 6 counts and then they do that kick out thing and fall (meaning just pose cause this is hard to do, and it can hurt if youre not strong). Nsync's part... 6. Pop R knee 4x w/ hands by your sides, keep popping knee, arms swing front and down then back and down, arms swing up to L, then break down and back up to R, R arm front w/ L arm bent to elbow, R arm rolls over and through L to front, arms push down (hold for 2 knee pops), point R arm R/L, arms down (then Nsync jumps off the desks). 7. punch R arm down left w/ L arm across chest and knees slightly bent, arms to sides, legs come together, arms up to daggers and tilt head back, arms down and look R. ballchange out/in w/ arms swooshing to front and then back to sides. <group 1> punch R/L/R/L/R to front while stepping forward and bent over w/ legs apart, swing head down and to the left and hold the pose. <group 2> repeats but swings head to the R. <everyone> step side to side w/ hands to front w/ elbows bent and hands moving side to side (like waxing car or something), sway and clap R/L, jump to legs apart, R arm up and bent, kinda peak head through where your elbow bends (sorry, hard to explain), lower arm, rock R/L, put R leg behind L and turn (don't stop at the front, just hold for a beat), turn back, step R w/ arms down and bent over, put L leg behind R and spin, legs come together, hand to head and kinda push your head and upper body to straight standing position, stomp R, step L, step R over L, L out (all w/ body slightly bent), stand w/arms down and legs apart. 8. on "heart" R arm raised to side and flick wrist w/ slight lean to L, stand, "you" R knee twists in/out and slides in, "are apart" R hand above head and wrist swings around and arm down w/ R leg to behind L, pose 4x (random poses on the beats), "no matter" legs apart and bring arm up and point to the audience w/ arm moving down slowly, small jump into step L/R, punch R arm down to L, walk. 9. "I don't understand" jump to legs apart, arms up to V (hands loose), jump together w/ arms down, point R leg across L then out to R, shake shoulders once, step on R and face L then step L out to face front, jump to legs apart leaning L slightly w/ R arm pointing to audience, bounce to R leg touch behind L leg w/ L arm out to side and R arm bent up to head, step R and straighten R arm so it points to R w/ L to head, bring arms around head and down your body and step together (like a small body roll), walk and turn. "things are" point R/L w/ R arm, arms bent front (crossed at chest, then like in daggers) and bend knees when moving arms, lean either R or L, then the opposite way w/ arms bent and out to sides w/ legs apart, step and face the side, then front. arms swing out to sides then in to chest then circle and back out to side, then front (this is tricky, JC does it really fast. you can make something up. whatever :P) cross L then R arms at waist, run. 10. "win" brush chest off, then turn to R and brush chest off, face front, swing arms up into V, step a few times R kinda facing L, R arm bent up to head, jump through it and turn (like a mini barrel turn), step a few times, face L leaning down and touch R foot behind you 2x w/ small hop inbetween. stand up and spin (cross R over L in ballchange), clap front. kick R leg out w/ arms out straight then R leg crosses L leg at knee (R leg is bent) and pull in arms so they are bent and elbows are resting on hips, tilt head L/R, ballchange out and put arms down, point R arm L, twist body to R, then L, then spin backwards, end w/ legs apart and hands down to floor, swing arms up to head and down (like putting a hat on) and straighten body, walk 2x. R arm punches out to R, R leg kicks out then crossed L at knee bent, tilt head L, leg and arm down and walk. 11. <chorus> kick R leg out and punch R arm front, ballchange, face R, hands on heart and R leg tapping 4x while turning to face front- on last one R arm crosses body to L (pointing down), swing arms to small body roll and bring R leg to L, facing front kick R leg to side 2x while pumping arms out from waist, step R behind L and punch arms down front, turn backwards, lean R w/ L leg out, shift weight to L leg, step together, bounce 4x w/ arms at heart- on last one tilt head back and arms go down to sides, lean L and step together w/ hands on heart, bounce, on "pain" legs apart and hands on head and rock R/L/R/L "w/ or w/o you" walk. 12. <the music changes> R knee bends up w/ L arm bent at elbow and out to side (like you're waving), switch and do the same w/ L knee up and R arm up, both arms to chest and turn to L/R/L, bring R knee up and L arm "shoots," ballchange to legs apart R/L, bend at waist and turn to face front, stand. bend L leg up and lean R w/ R arm up "waving," then R knee bends up and lean L w/ L arm up "waving," R leg over L and turn, bend at waist and "beat" to R/L on the beats in the music, stand, knees bounce in/out, lean upper body R/L w/ legs apart, step a few times, small jumps w/ legs together and hands flicking L on each, walk on the beats, Pose! |
