| Brownie Troop 946--We are made up of 20 1st-3rd Graders. Special activities that we have been involved in are: adoption of an elderly 82 year old lady in the community, "Momo"-We visit bi-weekly, send cards, gifts. We took her a decorated Christmas tree for the Holidays. We are going to sing carols to her on the 20th. We have learned alot about our community years ago and the way school, holidays, shopping etc. was done then. We will be writing a biography about "Momo" towards the end of the year. We purchased a Girl Scout logo sign for the towns welcome sign. We made Thanksgiving baskets for two needy families in the community. Participated in the samaritan shoe box Christmas drive for Kids around the world. Participate monthly in a project called "send a smile"--a program that sends pictures drawn by children to shut in individuals to brighten their day. We are currently penpals to two troops.--One in colorado and one in Wisconsin. We're getting ready to celebrate Christmas together with a "meaning party" recognizing the symbols of Christmas. We will exchange gifts and swap sweets that they have helped their Mom prepare. We are making Christmas mouse's for the members of the town council in our community. Since June, we have earned about 6 try-its and several fun patches to include the make a plate patch. We are loaded with artistic talent. Some of the girls made plates as gifts. We have been in two parades. Our main focus in community service. Br/Jr/Cadette Troop 79: Our troop has done alot of community service this year. Our Scouts did a dance camp for younger girl scouts and non-girl scouts. It was a great success. We go once a month to a local homeless shelter and bring a meal to them that the girls prepare themselves. We organized a clothes drive and collected clothes for kids at the women's resource center. One of our scouts organized a book drive and distributed the books to needy people in the community. We collected hats, gloves, and scarves to donate to people in need. We made homemade ornaments to decorate the Girl Scout Christmas tree. We plan on doing a cheerleading camp for younger girls in the Spring. We have earned the theatre badge, dance badge, performing arts badge, ceramics and clay badge and the Arts badge, textile and fiber arts badge so far this year. We sold nuts and candy, decorated plates. We made a baby quilt for an at risk baby. We were in the parade with our own float. We have lots of fun together. We will add pictures later. |
