| What we have been up to! We are working on our leadership pins, Bronze award and Silver Awards. We did a Community Service project once a month. We started in July of 2003 and finished in March of 2004. All the Girls each made a dish and we took it to the Homeless shelter in our town and served it to them. We had fun doing it. We also went to the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theater to see the Little Mermaid. It was alot of fun too. One of our Scouts' got picked to go on stage and dance with the actors and actresses. In mid Sept. we went bowling together. In early Oct. we went day camping and in mid Oct. we went to the corn maze. In Nov. we had an Art Class and learned to paint with Acrylics and also had a sewing workshop where we made a baby quilt for an at risk baby, a quilted table runner, a crocheted pocketbook and an appliqued pillow. In Dec. we marched in Christmas parade, made ornaments for the Girl Scout Christmas tree, and donated hats, gloves and scarves to those in need. In Jan. we sold cookies. In Feb. we participated in Thinking Day and the Cadettes did a bowling lock-in with other Cadettes in our region. In March we did a cookie booth. In April, we participated in the 2nd annual Powder Puff derby and also went to Art Rageous where we painted a ceramic cup for our Mom's for Mom's day. In June, we participated in the SWAP meet and we will have a swim party on June 20. On July 12,13,and 14th, we plan to go to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to visit some museums, see a show and go shopping and swim. Our Girl Scout Troop won an Honorable mention for the Colgate Volunterism award. 6 Girls who are Cadettes won the WDBJ-7 T.V. Volunterism award also.--This award is awarded to kids who are in the 6th grade--12th grade. They are Brittany, Molly, Lindsey, Kelly, Ashley, and Allison. We will add more pictures as we take them. Everyone has had a Good Girl Scout year! Also 5 of our Cadettes worked on another Community service project this semester. They did a dance camp for younger girls. We also did puppet shows for younger children. Some of the Cadettes will be doing a cheerleading camp sometime this summer for younger girls. 3 of Our Cadette Girl Scouts have completed their Silver Award requirements and will receive their Silver Award at the Girl Scout leader's meeting on June 14. Congratulations to Brittany, Kelly, and Lindsey on receiving their Silver Award! Way to Go Girls! |
