GAHRING FAMILY HISTORY

There are various spellings for the name and all in the same ancestor line. This family migrated here from Tabingen, Germany and settled in Venango county, Pennsylvania.

Earnest Conrad Gahring (Ross F., Jacob, Conrod, Goehring/Gahring, Johannes Goehring, Johann George, Johnann Conrad, Johanne, Conrad. *see note below

Earnest was born Oct. 28, 1885 in Oregon, and died Dec. 25, 1965 in Oil City, PA. He came to the Oil city area during his childhood. Info. found on obituary. Worked as a Barrel Maker for 54 years.
He married Ethel Mae Drake on Dec. 24, 1907 in Franklin, Venango Co. PA. She was the daughter of William and Edith Drake. Ethel born in 1892/died January 1949..

Violet Mae Gahring, b. 12/13/1908, Oil City, PA. d. 01/13/1988, Greenville PA, married Lawrence C. Smith, on 08/15/1925, Venango, Co. PA.

Jane M. Gahring- never married, born 02/24/1930, died 02/13/1985

Earnestine Freda Gahring, b 12/23/1910 Oil City, d. 12/11/1989 Franklin, married Charles Homer Hewston, on 05/20/1927

Norman S. Gahring, 1920 federal census shows him, age 4 - Died August 1, 1950

Gladys Frances Gahring, b. 08/27/ 1922, Oil City, d. 12/12/1989 Oil City, married Harry Gloss on 01/16/1945, Venango Co. PA. Children: 5 children all living.

Living Gahring, married Fredrick L. Gibson, b. 02/26/1921, d. 02/23/1994 Venango Co., PA.

Lineage of Earnest Gahring. on his mother's side, our ties to the surnames Ross; Baney; Benninghoff and Wert.

Son of Ross and Martha (Ross) Gahring, Martha was the daughter of Henry and Susannah (Baney) Ross. Susannah was the daughter of John and Susannah (Benninghoff) Baney.
Susannah was the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth (Wert) Benninghoff.

These familes lived in the Cherrytree Township area of Venango couonty.
