| Hertiage Sunday Tribute to the Kerr Addition United Methodist Church by Annie. It is with great pleasure and a real honor that you have requested me to share some of my very cherished memories with you on this special Heritage sunday. Times were very difficult back in the beginning of the church as it was during the depression and most of the men were without jobs. Rev. G. Patterson was with us for about five years. We were one of five churches on the circuit. The others being Mt. Joy, Selins Grove, Hyde City and Pleasant Grove. He and his family did a good job at at the Kerr Addion church and were loved very much by the congregatation. We then had a couple very young pastors. I do not recall their names. One got married and left, the other was a golfer who used to play golf with Roy Carson and young Zebrun. This was back in 1938. The next pastor I recall was Rev. Cleaver. I recall the churches men's basketball team: Rudy Curry, Dan McCracken, Blake Hubler, Al Hubler, Jim and Les Carson, Les Hall, Max Raymond, Joe Pry and Jim Condon. They played in the field out from Jim Carsons. They always had a good crowd to watch them. One of the highlights of my church affilation was my Sunday School Class. There were about 20 in numbers. Al and I would take them on picnics, trips, etc. We went on a weekend trip to Pee Wee's Nest in Curwenville. We also took a trip to Elliott Park for a pancake breakfast. We took our class to our camp on Rockton road. One particular trip, Jackie Keller got a fish hook in his hand and Al had to take him to the hospital in Clearfield to have it removed. Thelma Carson had a nose bleed, never a dull moment. Just ask Elsie and Bill Crandel, Grace (Keller) Leigey, Thelma (Carson) Guelick, Juanita (Woodring) Chanupa, Mary Condon and Maxine (McCracken) Maines.
