OAKLAND, Calif. — Jon Lester is seriously craving some normalcy, and he can see it on the horizon. At least, he hopes so.
Lester, the Bellarmine Prep of Tacoma product, had a hard time figuring out what all the fuss was about Saturday when everybody ultra thin notebook wanted a piece of his time, one day before he was to make his next start — six days after he threw the first no-hitter in the majors this year, and nearly two years after he was diagnosed with a rare form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Hood has knee surgery
The Austin Wranglers will face their biggest challenge so far without their best defensive player.
Defensive end Estus Hood underwent surgery Thursday to repair a torn meniscus in his knee, an injury that will keep him out of action for three or four weeks, including today's game against undefeated Spokane.
