The band started out by playing at houses around the college where they attended. they continued to do this and released the album 40.oz to freedom under no record company which in the US alone sold 30,000 copies. Sadly on may 25th 1996 the lead singer bradley was found dead in his hotel room after heroin overdose. He died aongside his most treasured friend and loyal companion lou dog. lou dog had featured in all the sublime videos even in 'SANTERIA' which was recorded after bradley passed away. sadly louie dies last year people say of a broken heart.
Just before Brad's sad departure they'd signed a record contract with SKUNK records to produce 3 more albums. the re-release of 'What i got' saw it straight in the US top 20 and has been in the rock charts top 100 ever since. More songs have been released the most famous being 'date rape' (which the video was shot b4 brad OD'd) 'Santeria', 'Caress me down' and 'wrong way'. 'What i got' was also a hit song in the BMX game for the playstation 'dave mirra freestyle BMX'
The band have now stopped producing songs under the name of sublime and started under Long Beach Dub Allstars (LBDA) sadly the band split up earlier this year and Bud is now in Eye's Adrift and Eric is in LB shortbus.
