MY FAVOURITES
My favourite living actress is Kirsten Dunst. Ain't she purty? I enjoy watching her in little roles like in 'Wag The Dog', goofy roles like in 'Dick' and 'Drop Dead Gorgeous', dramatic roles like in 'Virgin Suicides', she was great as Marion Davies in 'Cat's Meow' and then,of course, there's 'Spider-Man.' Heck, I just enjoy watching her. Especially when she's goofy.
My favourite actress from the past is Thelma Todd. What a beautiful, funny and talented woman. She worked with just about every major comedy star of the twenties and thirties (Laurel & Hardy, Charley Chase, the Marx Brothers, Wheeler & Woolsey, Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante, Harry Langdon, Buster Keaton, Cary Grant, Joe E Brown etc) and died way too young and under most mysterious circumstances (Read 'Hot Toddy' by Andy Edmonds for more info).
Johnny Depp. My favourite living actor. Again I like watching him in all sorts of things. Little roles like in 'Chocolat', brooding roles like in 'From Hell', quirky roles like in 'Ed Wood' and 'Sleepy Hollow'. And don't forget, he played Hunter S Thompson. And who else could have starred in a Hollywood blockbuster like 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and given an Indy movie performance? And is it just me, or was he doing Dudley Moore in 'Arthur'?
My favourite actor from the past is Montgomery Clift. Brooding, angst-ridden, tormented. What's not to like? "From Here To Eternity', "A Place in the Sun', "I Confess', 'The Misfits' and look. He's smiling! He's smiling!
One of my main interests is comedy (seeing as I write and perform the stuff) My top ten comedy influences are Buster Keaton, Dennis Miller, John Clarke, Peter Cook, Robert Benchley, Tony Hancock, W.C Fields and Woody Allen.
As a writer I'm also interested in other writers (see how all this stuff is kind of linked to me?). My top ten authors are Alan Bennett, Anne Tyler, Harlan Ellison, Hunter S Thompson, Kurt Vonnegut, Kim Wilkins, Paul Krassner and Richard Matheson and my top ten novels not by these people are 'Tender Is The Night' by F Scott Fitzgerald, 'The Razor's Edge' by Somerset Maugham, 'The Touch' by F Paul Wilson, 'The Legacy of Hearot' by Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle and Steven Barnes and 'Story of My Life' by Jay McInerney.
By the way, don't all writers feel like doing what Hunter S. was doing in the photo on the previous page? Oh, for pity's sake go back and have a look and see what I'm talking about.
I also buy comics. I don't collect them in the sense of the type of comic collector who will hoard multiple versions of the one comic, check values, keep them in bags and, in short - not read them. I read them. The monthly (or so) comics I'm currently collecting are Captain America,  Amazing Spiderman and Promethea but I'll buy pretty much anything by Howard Chaykin, J M DeMatteis, Steve Englehart, Neil Gaiman, Steve Gerber, Mike Grell, Frank Miller, Alan Moore and J Michael Straczynski.
Now, you already know who my favourite actors and actresses are but what are my top ten favourite movies? That would have to be Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein , Amelie, Chinatown, Gods and Monsters, Manhattan, the Mission, Paris Texas, Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, Some Like It Hot, Vertigo and Who's Minding The Mint'. The picture on the index page is from one of them. Guess which one. That's right. This is the scene that was edited out of 'The Mission' that occurred just after DeNiro did his penance up to the top of the waterfall.
My top ten film directors are Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, David Lynch, Ed Wood, John Waters, Preston Sturges, Terry Gilliam and Tim Burton.
My top ten film series is James Bond.
And speaking of James Bond brings me to another of my passions - chocolate. But it also brings me to spies. I love anything spy related, particularly spies from the sixties. My top ten spies are those in Callan, Get Smart, Harry Palmer, I Spy (Robert Culp is the coolest guy ever), James Bond (all of them), John Drake (Danger Man, Secret Agent), Man from U.N.C.L.E, Matt Helm, Mission: Impossible, Modesty Blaise, Our Man Flint, The Avengers, The Prisoner and Wild Wild West. I've got books, movies, music, TV shows, everything.
Speaking of music (we were weren't we?) the top ten artists in my music collection are The Beatles , Dannii Minogue, Juliana Hatfield, Lisa Loeb, Oingo Boingo, Pat Benatar, Suzanne Vega, Tori Amos, The Who, XTC and the film scores of Danny Elfman, Jerry Goldsmith, Bernard Herrmann and James Horner.
And finally, my top ten TV shows are Babylon 5 (the single greatest science fiction show ever), Daria, My So Called Life and Kolchak - The Night Stalker.
So that's about everything aside from Bettie Page, Daffy Duck, scream queens (particularly Brinke Stevens), serial killers (purely academically) and of course Ferknerkle Productions
