Edinburgh - I love this city. The weather while we were there was fabulous - apprantely quite out of character - must be me! Angela's family friend Billy picked us up and played tour guide and was simply the best! On Monday afternoon we went for a walk around the city and then had a late lunch/early dinner at a pub.. We were all pretty knackered after an early start so we called it an early night. Tuesday we did the touristee thing and went to Edinburgh Castle. Loved the place and spent 3 1/2 hours exploring. Went to another pub (The Malt Shovel) for a late lunch and thought I should do the cultural thing and had Haggis, neeps and tatties. The other girls turned up there noses but it was all good. We even washed out meals down with some cask ale. Our last full day was pretty overcast unlike the blue skies on Monday and Tuesday. We walked up to Arthurs seat which was a bit of mission has it was very humid and so windy at the top that we couldn't keep our cameras still to take a photo! Had a picnic on the lower slopes. All very relaxing after our huge efforts. On our return to the bottom we went to Hollyrood Palace - that was pretty boring and was a bit of a rip off (I was still spending $NZ)I hate to admit - only really enjoyed the abbey. Have been cruising the tourist shops for the rest of the afternoon.

Hmmm when we first saw sight of our hostel we wondered what the F***, it looked very run down and dodgey but we were pleasantly surprised that it had just be refurnished and was actually very nice inside (but stunk of new paint). But still its the most expensive hostel I've stayed in thus far - just check my NZ Visa card and it came in at just over $400NZ for three nights, what a rip! Well first night, tripped over and scraped all my knuckles. New Years Eve we did a bit of shopping and then drank at the hostel before heading down to the Street Party with the other 100,000 people. No memory really between 10-12 although I know that when I do get my film developed there will be a few photos of what is underneath a Scotsman's Kilt. And I am pleased to announce that I was the winner of the five nations (and then some). January 1st. Slept. Attended to the ill (Danielle was poisoned by cheap and nasty alcohol). Went on a Witchery tour around the city which was cool and then went to the three sisters pub which was conveniently located opposite our hostel. Jan 2nd - back to London Town and arrived back in time for a few drinks for Emmas b-day. Sat, Acquired the flu and Snogmanay cough so the rest of the weekend was a right off apart from an awesome night in the flat where we had a full on Mexican night - dress ups, food, music, decorations - the works.
