Bristol ... Cardiff ... and Bath |

| While I was working in Bristol for six weeks I took the opportunity to stay the weekend and visit a couple of towns nearby, Cardiff and Bath. Tani arrived Thursday evening so laxed out in Queens Park where GTs office is located. While England was experiencing it's heatwave this is when I escaped from the office at lunchtime. Anywho ... I had been for a quick look around the city after work and when I went to Cardiff with MCF but we went for a walk where I hadn't been in search for food. Wasn't really much on offer and Tani wanted Greek food, and of the limited restaurants where we were we managed to find one. Yum Tum food. On Friday I took the afternoon off and caught the train to Cardiff (think its only 40-60 minutes away). Did the tour of the stadium (again) and of the castle for Tani's sake. Had a quick look around town but that was cut short as the grumpy boy needed to be feed. Luckily we found the main drag where all the pubs and restaurants seemed to be. The waiter was also from the same country as Tani which was a bit of a coincidance. And the wine was too easy to drink. Needless to say I can't remember much more except that I insisted that we went to the Walkabout when we were on the way to the train station - which is a hell of a lot nicer and cleaner than the ones in London. Saturday was the best day. What better way to stay the day but by watching the All Blacks kick arse against Australia. Went downstairs to the restaurant at half time and smiled nicly at the waiter who let me take up lots of yummy food because the rugby was on and I didn't want to miss it. After the rugby we caught the train to Bath which is only 12 minutes away. There were tons of tourists and I can't believe such a small place has the need for tour buses. Walked around the city and river and then went and checked out the Roman Baths as one does. Tasted the water in the pump room and it is discusting!!!!!!! After that we went to Sally Lunns for a late lunch - ah the buns are so soft but generally it is a very tacky place which the waitresses dressed in maid outfits and the madridee wears an ugly period dress. Did a bit of shopping and then went and hung out at the park. Looked around the streets some more and I could of quite happily taken a photo of just about every building. Found a wonderful French restaurant (Theodores to anyone going there). It is my favourite restaurant ever and the food was devine. Sunday was a lazy day in Bistol and just hung around the river ... ending up going on a Ferry ride seen as there isn't a lot else to do. There was a jazz festival in Queens Park so went to that for awhile. And thats about that! |
