LUCIANA V. PALMA

OBJECTIVE

To be a part of a dynamic company or institute in the field of science and technology, academe or where my potential as a highly motivated, hardworking and diligent person can be fully recognized.

EXPERIENCE

Presently, I am connected with Saint Mary's Catholic High School, Dubai as an Assistant Teacher. Click here to learn more about the school.

I have worked also here in Dubai in the hotel industry. This is a new field for me and I learned a lot of the Arab culture, customs and traditions especially with regards to wedding. I got also the chance of meeting people of different nationalities.

In the Philippines, I was connected with Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) popularly known as the National Institute of Science and Tecnology (NIST) for fourteen (14) years. I started as an Assistant Science Research Specialist I and got promoted to Senior Science Research Specilaist.

ITDI is a multi-diciplinary institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). ITDI conducts various research and development in the field science and technology. It is also mandated by law to establish and maintains the national standards, calibrates working standards and measuring instruments to mention a few of its functions. I worked in the Metrology Laboratory with the following functions:

  1. Works with immediate supervisor in planning and programming of projects and activities of the Density/ Volume/Flow Section.
  2. Supervises and takes charge of training staff of the section including Regional Laboratories.
  3. Assigns work/job to the staff of the section.
  4. Formulates/research test procedures in the laboratory.
  5. Conducts research and development and/or test analysis on volume/density/flow measurements.
  6. Calibrates measuring instruments.
  7. Evaluates manufacturing processes in industrial plant for issuance of raw material consumption for certification purposes.
  8. Conducts lecture on the functions of the Standards and Testing Division and the ITDI in general.
  9. Prepares and issues calibration reports

I joined also the academe for one year, teaching mathematics (algebra and trigonometry) and chemistry.

EDUCATION

I graduated from Adamason University with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1982. Then I went on with my Masters Degree in Chemistry also in Adamson University. I also enrolled at the Philippine Normal University and took up Certificate in Teaching. I completed 12 units out of 18 units required.

INTERESTS

I am interested in computers, stitching, gardening and to travel.
