One Reminder In The Night
Blankets embrace you and silence enfolds
Your form, and darkness takes life of its own.
Thoughts run like dragons, and your conscience scolds.
You aren't alone.
Nighttime, you're longing for some kind of rest.
Like a child yearning to off-load the stone:
Stone of the burdens of life on your chest-
Toil of one grown.
Wondering truly the gift you possess:
Always does love come just when you atone?
God holding back and you cannot confess.
"Mercy," you moan.
Gentle words come, sudden, out of the cold.
"Child, persevere, for I just have not shown
Longing that I feel, to finally hold
You, as My own.
Your heart is gold."
