THE X-FILES: "TO CEASE ALL TEARS" Dana Scully walks down the forest with a seizing apprehension. Her swollen belly protrudes from the gown she wears; she is eight months pregnant. The forest is eerily familiar; she has been here before. Suddenly, she sees a bright light and a figure in front of her. The figure turns to face her. It is Fox Mulder looking at her, his face full of uncertainty and pain. They embrace and he kisses her forehead tenderly. He looks down at her belly and rubs it delicately with his hand. Mulder smiles. And then the smile fades. He turns to face the glowing white light and looks back at Scully, his eyes filled with tears. Scully looks at him with fear and pain, tears running down her cheeks. He begins to float towards the light, their still entwined hands become abruptly separated but Scully continues to reach for him. She screams his name but it is no use, he is already gone. "MULDER!" Scully awoke in a sweat. Her face was soaked with tears as she grabbed a tissue to blow her nose. She was starting to lose count of how many nights she had dreamed about Mulder. But this was a completely different dream than the others. She brushed her swollen belly and sighed. It had been eight months since he had disappeared, but it had already felt like a lifetime to Scully. She had hoped that maybe, just maybe, the grace of God would bring Mulder back before she gave birth, but with each hour that passed by, Scully could feel her faith in God drifting away. Since Mulder had gone missing, she had tumbled deeper and deeper into a painful depression she could not remedy. She had lost the love of her life, her soul mate. She was losing her faith in God like sand pouring through an hourglass. But what was more disturbing now was the irrevocable fact that she was losing herself as well. It was a struggle just to get out of bed every morning, but Dana Scully knew she had to stay strong for the baby that was growing inside of her, the baby that she was beginning to believe would be her only link to the man she loved. That was why she went on living. For the only constant in science is change, and maybe the change of having Mulder's child would ease her pain somehow, and maybe Mulder would eventually return to her. While she had lost her faith in God, her faith in herself, and her faith in everything she knew, there was one thing she was always sure of, always. Her faith in Mulder would never be lost. It was her faith in him that allowed her to stay strong, to give birth to this baby, to go on living for their child. Still, it was the dream that she had just awakened from that gave her a pit in her stomach. Something was wrong. She could feel it deep down inside, where the pit in her stomach was beginning to form. The dream had triggered a fear in her, a fear that she had no knowledge of as of yet. In all of her dreams about Mulder, the baby had never been involved, had never been seen, and had never existed. Mulder in the dream sequences had never even known of the existence of an approaching child. But in tonight's dream, he had seen Scully's stomach, had seen the presence of the unborn child, and he had happily acknowledged it. What bothered Scully, however, was the expression on his face... full of pain, sorrow, and unhappiness. And he had been taken again, after seeing Scully, embracing her and knowing the truth about the soon-to-be-born child. That was what bothered Scully the most. She wondered what it all meant and she shuddered at the thought of Mulder coming back only to be taken away again. She would not, could not survive losing him again. Suddenly, Scully felt something. She knew what it was, but wanted to deny it. It was too soon-- she wanted to wait-- for Mulder. But alas, after ten hours, thirteen minutes, and twenty-two seconds of labor and one emergency caesarian section later, Scully gave birth to the baby she had so desperately wanted Mulder to see. She had wanted to hold the baby inside of her until Mulder came back, but nature just didn't allow it, for this was the awful grace of God. Now, staring down into the child's tiny face, Scully cried-- tears of joy and tears of pain. She wasn't sure if she could do it alone-- raise this baby alone and stay strong in her hope for Mulder's return. Now, staring down at the child, she wondered if she could really do it. What would she tell her baby? What would she tell the child when it got older, when it asked about Mulder? Scully faced a world of uncertainty. Yet looking at the tiny bundle in her arms, she was certain that she had never been happier and sadder all at the same time. Happy that some strange miracle gave her what she had always wanted, but sad that the same miracle had to take her soul mate away from her, possibly forever. No. Don't think that way. You've got to be strong for this baby, she would think to herself. And for yourself. Suddenly, a nurse entered the room. "There's someone here to see you," she said, smiling warmly at Scully. Scully smiled back, expecting visitors. Her heart fluttered as it always did when the phone would ring, or if there was a knock on her door. It was almost as if she was expecting Mulder to be on that phone, be behind that door. But the flutter dissipated because she knew somewhere inside herself that it was more probable that Mulder might never come back. Assistant Director Walter Skinner walked into the hospital room cautiously, beaming at Scully. She smiled and welcomed him into the room. "Hello Walter," she said quietly, as her infant was sleeping soundly in her arms. "Hello Dana," he said equally quiet. "How are you feeling?" He asked as he looked down at the sleeping baby. "I'm tired and my stomach hurts from the C-section, but other than that I couldn't be happier at this moment," Scully replied, stroking the newborn's tiny head. "I can imagine!" Skinner laughed. He then turned his attention to the baby Scully held so tenderly. "So who is this little angel you have brought to life?" He asked gingerly. "Well, this is my beautiful little son I still have not named..." Scully said, her voice trailing off. Skinner knew exactly what she meant by the statement. "Scully, I know it's hard, but you can't keep putting things on hold, waiting for Mulder to walk into this room and agree on a name for this child with you. I'm sure that if and when he returns, he would forgive you quickly for naming your child without him. He'd be ecstatic just to see you and this baby and the people he loves in his life again," Skinner said, holding Scully's hand at the moment. She wiped her tears away and smiled at Skinner. They embraced, careful not to wake the baby. Scully let go of Skinner and handed him the sleeping child. She sighed. "Well, I suppose I should conjure up a name for this handsome little guy..." she said as Skinner gently rocked the infant in his arms. "Any suggestions?" Scully asked. "Well, you could name him after his father I suppose," Skinner started. Scully scrunched her nose at this suggestion. "I don't think Mulder would ever forgive me if I named his son Fox," Scully said, giggling at the thought. Scully thought for a moment. "If he were a girl, I'd probably name him Samantha..." Scully said. The baby stirred and opened his bright hazel eyes-- his father's eyes-- and cooed quietly. "Well, you could name him Samuel" Skinner said. The baby started to coo louder. Scully laughed. "I guess that's a keeper!" she said as Skinner smiled, handing the newborn back to Scully. "Hello Samuel" Scully said quietly to the child. He smiled at his mother-- his very first smile. "So what's happening with the Bureau lately?" Scully asked, as Samuel yawned. "Not much actually...Doggett is of course still working feverishly to find Mulder, but we've had no real leads as of yet. John told me to tell you that he hopes all is well and that you and your baby are both safe and healthy..." Skinner said. "Well, tell him I appreciate his warm wishes and that I really do appreciate all he is doing to try and find Sam's father..." Scully replied. She yawned at the thought of how much work she and Doggett had already put in to find Mulder. Skinner at that point saw just how exhausted Scully was-- she even looked a little older than the last time he'd seen her. "Well, I think I'm going to let you both get some rest, but I will probably visit you sometime later this week. Let me know if there is anything you or baby Samuel need," Skinner said, kissing both mother and child on the forehead as he turned to leave. "Sir?" Scully suddenly asked. Walter Skinner turned to face her. "Yes?" he replied. "Will you be my son's godfather?" Scully asked, for it was something she had been meaning to ask him since she had found out about the pregnancy. "Of course I will," Skinner replied, smiling at Scully. He turned and walked out of the room. Scully smiled down at her infant son. "Now all I need is a middle name for you, Sam!" she said, chuckling quietly to herself. Elsewhere, an unloving man was taking another child, who had been born a little after Samuel Mulder. The child was most certainly not the mysterious man's, rather; this child would serve an agenda based on the man's work. Had someone noticed him with the tiny baby, they would have seen that the child he was carrying was still wrapped up in the blanket it had been placed in the moment it was born, not yet cleaned of it's mother's blood. Yet no one could possibly tell that he even had a baby with him, as the child was inside a small, crude animal carrier. Blood tests would reveal that this child was actually Samuel Mulder's twin sister. Yet no one knew of her existence, not even her own mother. For the emergency caesarian section done on Scully wasn't really needed, and the men who carried out the procedure worked for the very same man who had the baby in his possession now. The men had planned it ever so carefully so that Scully would never know she was carrying twins, replacing sonogram videos of her two babies with videos of a single baby boy. They then muffled the child's cries when she entered the world; hastily handing her over to another "doctor" while Scully had been put under heavy pain medication so that she would not have seen the man slip out of the room with her baby daughter. And now this child was fated to a different life, a harsher life. The man continued walking until he reached his black car with black tinted windows and placed the carrier on the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Before he began his drive, the man took out a cell phone. "It's me. I got what you wanted. Yes, a perfectly healthy specimen. I should be there by tomorrow night. No. She has absolutely no idea of its existence. Right. Until then," and then he hung up the phone, started the car and drove quickly away. This was the life that Janelle Smith was born into. She was immediately handed to a couple who worked for this mysterious man for several years, and were unable to have children of their own. Janelle became their daughter and would be raised as a normal child who was just conveniently born "sick", so her whole life would be spent with "doctors" and scientists. Her "parents", Shayna and Damian Smith were geneticists for this man and though they loved their daughter very much, Janelle was just another "experimental subject" to them. Far away from baby Janelle's miserable beginnings of her life, Dana Scully's family beamed with joy and pride as they looked at Scully and her tiny son. Dana's mother, Margaret, was still trying to come up with a middle name for Samuel, for, being a catholic child Samuel had to have a respectable middle name. After numerous failed attempts at a middle name, Scully came up with her own suggestion. Her mother wanted Samuel's middle name to be Jonathan, to which Scully felt was too ordinary for her miracle baby. Bill Scully Jr. wanted Samuel's middle name to be William or Charles, which Scully did not agree with as those two names were the names of her brothers. Bill's wife, Tara, thought about the late Melissa Scully and suggested either Michael or Melvin for a middle name. Scully cringed at the thought of Melvin and didn't really object to Michael, but she realized that she had a middle name for Samuel since the moment he had been first handed to her after his birth. She stopped the argument between her family and decided that Samuel's middle name would be Fox. While some members of the family disagreed with this choice, Samuel himself seemed to like it for he smiled when his mother asked him if he liked the name. And so, as the days passed the Sunday after Sam and Scully came home finally arrived and it was time for Scully's son's christening. Scully was weary and tired by the fact that Mulder would not be there to see his little boy's christening. She was dazed through the entire ceremony, thinking nothing about what was going on, but reflecting on the past with Mulder. The only time she came out of the daze was when the Priest introduced Samuel Fox Mulder to the "world". Upon hearing the name Fox, Scully felt a sudden sadness inside of her, and became very tired. She drove back to her apartment after the ceremony was over, placed Sam in his bassinet, and lay down on her bed, falling asleep almost immediately. "I know you have been alone for some time now. You have been through too much alone and you need me. I know this feeling too well. I have been gone from our world for nearly a year and I have regretted it. I know you feel your faith in me slipping though you'd deny it if anyone asked. I am here, in your dreams now to tell you that I am coming back. I promise. Soon, Scully, soon". Scully awoke with a start, dripping in sweat. She had seen Mulder in her dreams again, only it was as if it weren't a dream at all, rather, a premonition. This wasn't a new concept to her. She had seen him before when she was certain he had died in a boxcar fire in New Mexico, nearly five years ago. Something inside of her went off and Scully cried more than she ever had in her life. For the first time in many years, Dana Scully prayed. She prayed for the dream to be a true premonition, and she prayed for Mulder's return. Scully didn't fall back to sleep that night. Instead, she got up out of bed and picked up Sam from his crib, sat down in the new rocking chair her mother had bought for her, and watched the sun come up with her son in her arms. Scully's eyes stared into the sky longingly hoping for any sign that would say her prayers had been answered. Janelle Smith, one week old, was incredibly miserable. She had been tossed around to so many different doctors, having test after test done on her until she was unable to be soothed any longer by her "parents". She cried and cried, nothing could stop her wailing. Even when she was brought home after the tests, still she cried. Shayna Smith was at her wit's end, trying everything she possibly could to stop the child's howling. But it was beginning to become apparent to Shayna that Janelle would never be happy and would never accept her life in this strange "family" she had been thrown into. It was almost as if Janelle knew she was not Shayna and Damian's child. It was this idea that frightened Shayna to the point of no return, and she was hesitant to care for this child. But Damian was stubborn. He ignored Shayna's pleas to return the child to the mysterious man, and he cared for the infant when Shayna refused to do it herself. Janelle remained stubborn, screaming and crying through life, miserable every day of her existence. Shayna and Damian eventually stopped hearing her cries and continued to care for her, but someone else was beginning to hear Janelle's cries of desperation. Someone far from home, but was making his way back as fast as he could... Scully awoke to a knock on her door. Still sitting in her rocking chair with Samuel, Scully slowly placed him in his crib and pulled her robe tightly around her. Scully walked towards the door and looked through the small spy hole, seeing three very familiar faces on the other side of the door. She opened the door at once, smiling happily at the Lone Gunmen. "Hey Dana," Melvin Frohike said, smiling as he hugged her carefully. John Fitzgerald Byers and Ringo Langly smiled and said hello as well. "We came to see how you were feeling..." Frohike started, but stopped as he noticed the crib in Scully's bedroom. "Well, I'm feeling fine, though I'm still fairly sore from the operation, but I'm doing well for someone who just had a baby..." Scully smiled. "I'm assuming you three would like to meet him?" Scully said, noticing the men's anxious looks at the tiny bundle in the crib. They nodded their heads ecstatically. "Well, have a seat on the couch and I'll bring him out to see you..." Scully said, as the Lone Gunmen sat down watching her walk over to the baby. Samuel stirred and awoke when his mother picked him up, but he did not cry. Frohike smiled. "At least he's not a crybaby like his father," he joked. But Scully did not laugh. She smiled wryly, but thinking about Mulder made her feel a deep despair. Byers and Langly looked at Frohike and the three men suddenly became solemn when they saw how Scully immediately seemed to sag into sadness at the mention of Mulder. Seeing their faces, Scully forced a smile and sat down in a chair in front of them with Samuel. They smiled happily as they watched Samuel open his eyes and slowly look at them. "Frohike, Byers, and Langly-- meet Samuel Fox Mulder," Scully said as she handed the baby to them. "He looks so much like Mulder..." Frohike said quietly, as Samuel stared deeply into the three men's eyes. "At least he's got his mother's nose!" Byers piped in. They all laughed at the comment. "Well, actually, he's got a little bit of his Daddy's curve right there," Scully said pointing out the tiny curve in Sam's nose to the men. They just smiled. "Can't wait to see if he's a skeptic or a believer," Langly said. The men looked at Scully and smiled. Scully smiled back, but looked over her shoulder at a picture of Mulder she recently had framed. "Wish you were here," she quietly whispered, and went back to her guests. Scully left the three surrogate uncles with the baby as she showered and changed. Scully came back out to her guests to see that Frohike had Samuel sleeping in his arms. She smiled at the tender moment and lifted the sleeping child out of his arms, placing the child into his crib. She sat down with the men with something on her mind. Frohike sensed this. "What's up Dana?" he asked curiously. "I need to find Mulder..." she said quietly. The Lone Gunmen looked at each other with serious faces, then at Scully. "I mean, there must be some way we could find him! I've got to. He needs to see Samuel..." Scully said disparagingly. Frohike hugged her, as she fell apart in his arms. Langly and Byers looked at each other sadly and wished there was something they could do. "I can't do this anymore..." Scully said, her voice breathless and tired. "Dana, it's okay. We're here for you...what is it you can't do anymore?" Frohike asked, holding Scully in his arms. "I can't-- I can't be alone, without him. I can't go on without him! I am so tired of waiting for his return when somehow I feel like he isn't coming back!" Scully cried, tears enveloping her face. Frohike continued holding her until she cried herself to exhaustion, at which time Frohike and Langly carried her to her bed, as Byers watched over sleeping Samuel. Later, as Scully slept peacefully, the trio sat talking quietly. "You think she'll be okay?" Langly asked Frohike. "She's been through a lot, and she's definitely doing worse than we originally thought..." Byers chimed in. Frohike sat staring at sleeping Scully. "One thing's for sure, Scully needs Mulder, or we may lose her forever..." Frohike said, warily. The men at that point looked at each other and wore similar expressions of worry. In the far reaches of dark, cold, and what could arguably be called lonely space, a man lay motionless, unaware of where he was or how long he had been there. More importantly, he sensed a connection to the planet earth, specifically located around a woman he could not be away from. It was something that was not running through his mind when he was taken away from his life. Yet now, he felt his connection with this woman center around a massive pain he could not describe, as if his heart were slowly being burned into oblivion by cigarettes. Yet somehow, through the massive fight the man had just won, he could hear three distinct cries in the distance of far space. Suddenly, his memory started to come back slowly. He was on an alien ship, and he had fought rigorously with the alien bounty hunter to free himself and the rest of the abductees from the clutches of the non-human being. He had fought to restore safety to planet earth from the invasion the bounty hunter had told the captors about. Had it not been for Mulder's ability to read the alien's mind, he would have failed, and all of mankind would have ended. Yet with his victory, Mulder now faced the burden of how and when he would get back to his life as well as fathom the knowledge of all things Mulder now posessed. He had left behind his life with a woman whom he loved more than life itself. He had left her behind, and had regretted it the moment he had been taken to the far reaches of the galaxy. It was the pain he felt in missing her and the anger he had towards the bounty hunter aliens that made it possible for his strength in both mind and body to overwhelm them all. And now, after waking from his exhausted sleep with renewed strength, he and the rest of the surviving abductees were making their way home. His name was Fox Mulder, and he was coming back to his life. The cries he heard had been there every night since winning his battle with the aliens. He could hear her, his one and only trusted love, crying for him, and crying for someone else-- a baby in the background of his mind, in the deepest depths of his brain was also crying-- Mulder knew this infant to be his. But it was the third crying person that confused him-- another infant, but this one was being hurt; subjected to terrible pain. This child he also knew was his, and he had to hurry back to his home planet to save this baby and to cease all tears. "I'm coming back to you, Scully...I'm coming..." Mulder said as he lifted his bruised and broken body from the bloodied floor of the alien craft. Samuel Mulder was crying. Crying like he never had before, and his mother still had not come near him. But it was not her he was crying for. She sauntered into the room with a bottle of formula, but Sam refused to take it. She tried everything-- from bathing him to rocking him to singing to him to driving him in her car-- the baby just wouldn't stop. She held him and tried to soothe him with her voice but still the baby cried. "Come on kiddo, help me out!" she said warily. They had been up like this for two and a half hours. Sam continued crying; his tiny chubby hands seemingly reaching for the picture of Mulder Scully had placed in his nursery. She looked over her shoulder to see a premonition of Mulder, holding another baby in his arms. She startled so suddenly that she almost felt herself drop Samuel, but instead she tightened her grip. Mulder stared at her, with this other baby sleeping peacefully in his arms and Scully thought she was going crazy. Sam was still screaming- reaching for his father. Scully began to cry. She just didn't understand it. But as quickly as she had seen the premonition, so had it disappeared just as quickly. Sam stopped crying and just stared at the photograph of Mulder. Scully sat in the rocking chair with her baby boy, stunned and shocked by what had just happened. She didn't know what it all meant, but somehow, her fears that Mulder would not return and/or that he might be dead had suddenly subsided. In fact, she suddenly found herself reassuring her tiny son that his father was coming back, and Samuel just looked up into the night sky, staring at the stars as if some mystical baby secret lay out there, just for him. Scully smiled, looking up at the sky. "Soon, Sam... Soon" she murmured, as she looked down at her sleeping son, who had a perpetual smile on his tiny chubby face. Scully leaned back in the rocking chair and stared into the dark night sky that no longer seemed so lonely anymore. Upon hearing the screaming baby and Scully's lathargic steps into his nursery, the Lone Gunmen startled awake and ran to the room to find Scully sitting in a rocking chair with Sam, who was now peacefully sleeping. "Is everything alright in here?" Frohike cautiously asked. Scully turned to face him, a strange smile overwhelming her face. "Everything's fine," Scully said, dreamily. The three men thought she was delirious. Upon seeing the men's faces, Scully felt she needed to explain. "He's coming back..." she said, looking towards the sky. "I saw Mulder-- well, actually a premonition of him...he told me he was coming back!" Scully said happily. The men continued to look at her as if she was an escaped mental patient. But Frohike thought about it and believed her. "You've seen him before, when we all thought he was dead..." Frohike said. "Yes-- and I'm not sure how or why, but I have this incredibly strong feeling that Mulder is coming back-- he's making his way back home to us..." Scully replied. The men looked at each other and strangely somehow knew that they could not deny any of what Scully was saying. Janelle Smith was crying until she was almost blue in the face-- but still, no one came to her. Shayna had taken sleeping pills in order to sleep through Janelle's cries, and Damian was working late. No one could hear Janelle. There were no neighbors to complain or call social services on the Smiths, no one who could stop the child's cries. Yet suddenly, Fox Mulder was in the infant child's room, and he slowly walked towards the crib. He looked down at miserable Janelle and picked her up. She stopped crying. Mulder wasn't fully aware as to how he had gotten back to earth, but frankly he didn't really care. He couldn't remember much of anything except for Scully, Skinner, and the last case he was working on. The only thing he could remember from his abduction was the two crying babies he kept hearing in his head. And now he had found one of them... a very lonely baby girl who was obviously neglected. Mulder couldn't be completely sure, but he had a strange feeling that the tiny baby girl he was holding was his own biological child-- his and Scully's. The baby opened her eyes to reveal a bright blue that Mulder immediately recognized. She had Scully's eyes. Mulder also noticed something of a small amount of blondish red hair lightly covering the infant's head. But when the baby grabbed a tight hold of Mulder's finger, he knew then and there, without a doubt, that he was holding his daughter. Her sad eyes somehow explained everything to him-- she had been kidnapped, Scully possibly being unaware of her existence, and she, much like Mulder's sister, Samantha, had been horribly mistreated for the purpose of some secret heinous agenda. This tiny, fragile child, Mulder's own daughter, was a lab rat. Mulder wrapped the baby in a blanket and prepared to leave when he suddenly came to realize that he had no idea where he was. He looked out the window and noticed it was snowing outside, which didn't quite make sense for Washington D.C, but then again, Mulder also had no idea what month it was. Still, he was wearing what he remembered wearing when he was abducted, and he wasn't quite warm enough. He was wearing jeans, hiking boots, a flannel navy blue shirt, and a polartec vest over the shirt, yet he was still cold. Mulder searched for anything, any clue, that might tell him where he was. He walked quietly into another bedroom of the house and found a heavily sleeping woman curled up in the bed. On a nightstand was a wallet, probably the sleeping woman's. Mulder opened the wallet to find the woman's driver's license. She was one Shayna Janelle Smith, age thirty-three, and she was from St. John's, Newfoundland. Mulder froze. Newfoundland? He also noticed she had a maiden name-- she was married. And then Mulder heard the familiar sounds of a door unlocking downstairs. Damian Smith was overworked, overtired, and underpaid as far as he was concerned. He had just finished another exhausting day when his boss at the air force base where he worked called him en route to his home, telling him they had something they wanted him to do. More genetic tests with unknown DNA-- unknown to the public anyway. So, Damian went back to work and finally finished his tests, driving back home at about one in the morning. He walked into his home and grabbed a beer from the fridge, turning the television on and finally relaxing. There was nothing on television so he shut it off and finished his beer. It was at this moment that he realized something was out of place. The baby. She wasn't crying. In a moment of both panic and possibly anger (he was thinking that maybe his wife actually had killed the child), Damian ran up the stairs to his bedroom as fast as he could. Shayna was dead asleep. Damian cursed under his breath, noticing the sleeping pills bottle she had near her hand. He turned his attention to the baby's room, in which the door to Janelle's room was shut. Damian walked to the door turning the knob to find that the door was locked. It could only be locked from the inside, angering Damian. Someone was in there... Fox Mulder felt the sweat dripping down his face as he tried to figure out what to do. He left the baby in the crib when he heard the front door open and hid in a small storage closet when he heard the sounds of someone walking up the stairs. Mulder hadn't realized that when he shut the door, he had also locked it by accident. He knew that the person on the other side would be suspicious, and Mulder knew he didn't have any other choice but to confront the stranger, grab his daughter, and get the hell out of there. So Mulder waited... Damian found the tiny key on his keychain. Though he and Shayna figured they would never need to use it, they had kept keys to Janelle's bedroom on their keychains...just in case. Slowly, Damian unlocked the door to the baby's room and pushed it open, having withdrawn a gun from it's holster that Damian always had on him. He took a deep breath and slowly walked into the room. Damian crept to Janelle's crib, and looked down at the child. She was sleeping peacefully on her back, a tiny smile curved on her face. Damian laughed under his breath, shocked by the strange silence and the baby's smiling face. But the moment didn't last. Janelle opened her eyes and momentarily looked up at Damian. The moment she recognized him, she let out a terrifying loud scream. Damian sighed. And then he fell to the floor, looking up to see a man carry out Janelle in a large blanket. The man looked at Damian angrily, the baby just sat in his arms quietly staring up at the man. Damian recognized the man, but before he could say anything, everything went black as Damian slipped into unconsciousness. Leaving St. John's, Newfoundland was difficult. Mulder had never been to Newfoundland and did not know the geographicals of the area. He didn't even know where he should start in order to get out of the place. But he knew he had to leave as quickly as possible because his daughter would be stalked by the people who had taken her in the first place-- she was obviously of some importance to them. Mulder was also suddenly faced with another problem-- the baby needed to be changed. Sam Mulder was crying miserably as Scully changed him. Scully tried to speak softly to him but as Scully looked down at her son, he suddenly did not look like Sam-- he looked almost like a young version of Emily-- in fact, Scully thought she was looking at the same baby that Mulder had been holding in the premonition she had seen of him. But in a moment it was gone, and Sam was back to his crying self. Scully shrugged it all off and instead tended to her crying child. Frohike, who, along with the other two members of the Lone Gunmen, was camped out in Scully's apartment in order to help with Samuel and had walked in at the sounds of Sam's cries. "How's the tiger holdin' up?" Frohike asked, as Scully finally got a clean diaper on her son. "Oh you know, typical cranky little Sam here just won't smile..." Scully said, handing the six-week-old infant to Frohike. "He's finally starting to get some real hair on his head..." Frohike said, as he lightly brushed Sam's few strokes of dark raven hair over to one side of his head. Scully giggled, looking at the tiny little boy smile at Frohike. He had Mulder's smile, which caused Scully herself to smile, knowing somewhere deep inside herself that Mulder was coming back very soon. Mulder cringed as he entered the public bathroom knowing that he had to change a baby-- practically for the first time in his life. It wasn't the actual changing that bothered Mulder, rather it was the fact that he didn't really have any diapers. So, Mulder did the only thing he could think of. He took off his black undershirt and used it as a clean diaper for the baby. "I like this shirt, so don't do anything I wouldn't do in it, okay kiddo?" Mulder said, as he re-dressed the baby in her pink jumper and wrapped her back up in the blanket. Mulder's daughter just smiled at him as he left the restroom, trying to think of what to do next.
