March Planning

Shopping with my bridesmaids wasn't as hard as I expected (of course I only went with two of them). They liked every dress I picked out but decided on a very elegant dress. I have included a picture on my site. I received the quote from the caterer Wednesday. Just serving cake, fruits and vegetables is going to be twice what I budgeted. I'm going to show my mom the quote today and let her decide on what we should do. I'm still planning the bridal shower for my future SIL. She's working on her guest list and my mom and I are going shopping tonight for party decorations/favors/invitations. We are definitely having it at a restaurant with a dutch lunch (that way all her bridesmaids will have some part in the whole thing). John has been working with a travel agent/teacher friend of his to get an idea on honeymoon costs. So far she's been no help so today he's supposed to go to a professional travel agent to get some quotes. Hopefully we'll know where we are going soon and how much money we need to save.

Met with the florist this past weekend. That was a bit more than I expected financially. We got everything we wanted though but didn't go all out. I wanted something elegant but small. We're using more candles than flowers to decorate and the flowers will be moved to the reception site after the ceremony (that will save on multiple flower costs). The colors of flowers I'm using are blues, yellows with rust/red color and whites with ivy. So many people just use plain white throughout so I had to create my own selection with little help from pictures from previous weddings. I can't wait to see the final result! The florist said she'll make me a smaller bouquet for my pre-bridal shot. That way I can make sure I like what I ordered. Stay tuned. . .More to come.

Planning has been put on the back burner for the next week or so. My brother's wedding is next weekend and that has taken over things for a while. :) I survived the bridal shower last weekend. My sis and I pulled it all together and did a pretty good job. Only had one girl complain behind our backs but what can you expect from a gal who shows up 45 minutes late.
John and I registered last weekend at Target. We registered for kitchen, bed and bath stuff and a few tools. We still have to register at Dillard's for china and Service Merchandise for other odds and ends. It took us 2 hours to register at Target so we'll take our time and get to each store on different weekends. We also spoke to the preacher Monday morning about performing the ceremony for us. Things are slowly coming together. Once my brother and his fianc are married and things calm down for my mom, then I'll get back to planning and get the musicians, confirm the caterer and other needed details.
