  • New Club Opening:  In October, Capponi and his general manager and design partner Todd Neldberg, another highly-credentialed South Beach veteran, will debut 320, an intimate, upscale venue located at 320 Lincoln Road, where Bar Room used to be. - South Beach Magazine

And Monday night is Tantra's bold challenge for the title of wildest party of the entire week. Located at 1445 Pennsylvania Avenue. - South Beach Magazine

  • Cafe Milano:  Located smack dab in the middle of Ocean Drive, (850 Ocean Drive) halfway between the Clevelander bar and the always-crowded News Cafe, Cafe Milano has prevailed for nearly a decade while many competing restaurants have given up the ghost.  Here you'll find a cozy, brasserie atmosphere, complete with clinking glasses and overzealous dinner conversation. People-watching is almost as interesting as the menu, which includes traditional Italian favorites like antipasti, panini (small sandwiches), a variety of pastas, carpacci, and a long list of main courses like filet mignon or grilled salmon. The restaurant is popular with an over-30 crowd that seems just as comfortable in khaki shorts as in casual business attire.--Elliott Neal Hester

  • News Cafe:  Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. News Cafe is a sidewalk cafe, newsstand, and bookstore. Serving from a varied menu, continuously, day and night patrons are invited to relax and dine and get into the spirit of the cafe.

  • Quote of the Week:   Female tourist overheard at Level's Federation 1235:  You know, South Beach seems to be a lot more interesting than Disney World..." - South Beach Magazine.

  • China Grill: China Grill is a more personal albeit stimulating experience, and one of the city’s most high profile gathering places. Great service, attention to details, and a sophisticated, no-frills ambiance are the ideal backdrop for the finely tuned Pan-Asian concept cuisine.  Massive piles of Far Eastern cuisine are served in a uniquely personal way-- family-style. That's what makes China Grill a popular locale for out-of-towners and locals alike.  Located at 404 Washington Avenue.

  • Bash:  Bash is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM. International Parties with DJ Patrick Mohr spinning World Beat in the Main Room.  Friday & Saturday - DJ  Fabinho spins Brazilian/Dance in the Main Room on Friday; DJ Stephane takes over the Main Room for Progressive House and Trance on Saturday; and DJ Patrick Mohr pumps up the World Beat all weekend in the Enchanted Garden.

  • Touch:  New club opening at South Beach.

  • Lincoln Road Shopping:  Located at 16th and Collins South Miami Beach.  Oh sure, you could head straight for the Gap or Banana Republic, but you'd be missing out on the best of South Beach style. This outdoor mall has the generic chain stores, but the real fun is in browsing through the indie shops.

  • The Crew (movie):  Opens Friday, August 25, 2000.  There's no place like home -- even when it's the ratty Raj Mahal senior citizen residence hotel in yuppie-haven South Beach, Miami.
