CPU: Central Processing Unit. Sometimes called the "brains" of the computer. i.e., Pentium, AMD, Celeron, etc.
RAM: Random Access Memory - Short term memory - comes in different sizes. 32mb, 64mb, 128mb, 256mb, 512mb, 1024-1gmb
Hardware: Any part of the computer you can touch. Physical parts of the computer
Software: programs that are installed on the compuer. It is code at tells the computer what to do.
Operating System: is software that tells the parts of the computer how to work with each other and how the hardware and other software should work.
Hard Drive: mass storage device where all files on your compuer are stored. Now the common siz e is 40gb.
Input Device: Any piece of hardware that gives the computer information. i.e., keyboard, mouse, monitor
Output Device: any piece of hardware that sneds information to the user. i.e., Monitor, printer, speakers
Input/Output Device: Any piece of hardware that can both send and reveive information. i.e., floppy disc, burner, touch screen monitor, etc.
