Anyone who's really into rpg's should at least be aware of FF7, if not get a copy immediately as it's one of the best rpg's to ever come about although dated compared to some of todays games FF7 represents one of the genre's peaks... |

Story (spoilers kept to a minimum):
Cloud a former member of soldier (an elite military sect ran by the mega conglomerate "The Shinra") now makes his living as a cold mercenary. He is enlisted by avalanche (a rebel group led by a man called Barret) who oppose the use of the Shinra's mako reactors (large reactors that suck mako ,a life energy emitted from within the planet, and turn it into energy). Things start to go sour how ever during one of the groups missions and before anyone relises they get caught up in something a lot bigger then an environmental threat and things aren't helped by Cloud's past catching up with him in the form of a super soldier Sephiroth who has motives of his own (probably one of the best badguys in any game). Now with the Shinra on their trail and Sephiroth to deal with Cloud and his friends are in for one hell of an adventure... |

Cloud Strife: A former member of Soldier (the's a plot twist about this later) now turned mercenary. Cloud is enlisted by avalanche to help with their missions and their fight against the Shinra. Cloud appears to be cold and tough in his exterior at first but later on he opens up a bit to the rest of the party. Clouds past at first seems straight forward when you first come across Tifa but it really comes back to haunt him after big bad guy Sephiroth re-emerges. |

Tifa Lockheart: One of the members of avalanche and Cloud's childhood friend. It's painfully obvious she has some kind of feeling towards Cloud even from early on in the game but whether she'll get her man ahead of the elegant Aeris is left for you to see (go out and buy it if you haven't). Tifa and Cloud both had a nasty experience when Sephiroth lost the plot years before and his reapearance will bring back painful memories. |

Aeris Gainsborough: Aeris is actually the last of the Cetra or Ancients if you wish. The Cetra are the ancient civilisation who based their lives on living at one with the planet, one of the many tasks of this life style involve going to the promised land see spoiler section for more. It's made clear that her heritage is of some importance to the Shinra who have been after her since she was a child. The's also a love triangle going on between her, Tifa and Cloud and the's also the fact of her wondering whether her, Jenova and Sephiroth are the same after hearing that Sephiroth is an ancient. |

Barret Wallace: The leader of the resistance group avalanche. Barret holds a personal vandetta against the shinra (See spoiler section) because of an event that happened long ago. What starts out as a few missions against the Shinra soon becomes a quest to save the planet when the party leave Midgar to stop the shinra and halt Sephiroth. |

Cid: Not there at the beginning of the game but joins the party later on in Rocket Town when he and the Shinra have their differences. Cids quite a cool character in my opinion and can be a useful member of the party when leveled up. Despite leading the party for a short period at some point and having a bit of influence during the huge materia scenario cid is mainly there to make up the numbers. |

Cait Sith: A wierd character who joins you later with motives of his own but soon has a change of heart. He becomes a key character in providing the party with imformation. |
