| I think my short career in reviewing is over. U guys should check out Metallica's St. Anger though, I'm hearin good things. Also Deftones have a new album out. If ur a Manson fan, his new album is supposed to be fairly daycent and if we're talkin old stuff go with early Metallica, Faith No More's Angel Dust, if u like punk try NOFX's Punk in Drublic or The Offspring's Smash. And finally anyone who likes rock music in the slightest should check Foo Fighter's The Colour and the Shape album. Classic. | |||||||||||
| Foo Fighters- One By One O.k. let me open up by sayin I'm a HUGE Foos fan, so naturally I bought the album as soon as it came out. After seeing the "All my Life" video I was salivating constantly and craving more and I guess it's...... great. I mean funk it I love All My Life, Tired of You, the fantastic Come Back and Halo but some of the other songs swing dangerously between good and O.K.... which is worrying. A prime example of this would be Burn Away. It's kinda.... cheesy. "We'll burn away, burn away my pride....." Nyeh! But what really annoys me is the reviews I'm reading. "At this rate they'll never have an album to match Nirvana... blah blah blah, Nirvana were of a different time and era, if Nevermind was released today no-one would give a flyin fuck!!! It'd be categorised with no-hopers like Staind and Puddle of Mudd! Anyhoo I'm gettin side tracked, the Foos release another fine album even if it is their weakest. Good Job. |

| Audioslave Oh the pressure mounted on this one!!! Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford formerly of Rage Against The Machine collaborating with Chris Cornell from Soundgarden. Quick question: How many of you actually knew this album was in the works? I've known about it for two years but even some Rage fans I know haven't heard of it yet. Anyhoo it kicks off with opener Cochise and wow it's Rage!! The music brings a tear to your eye, you thought they were gone but they're still here, still kickin out the jams! Then Chris Cornell enters with the line "I've been watchin while you've been talkin" and man he sounds like Robert Plant from Zeppelin or somethin! Then the chorus kicks in "Come save youself, and take it out on me". Faboo! A lot of songs follow the Rage riffs/grunge singing formula like Set it Off and What You Are (The former having a wicked guitar bit at the start) but what really strikes you are the mellow ones. Songs like The Last Remaining Light really show that the Rage boys don't have to be leaping around the stage while their singer roars "Fuck you I won't do what you tell me" to show off their musical prowess. This album is a tour de force everyone buy a copy! please...... |

| Mudvayne- The End Of All Things To Come | |||||||||||
| Mudvayne burst onto the scene around two years ago with the L.D.50 album. At the time because they wore make-up and looked kinda scary people made the immediate Slipknot comparison. This turned me off at first and I had no interest til I heard a song of theirs called Nothing To Gein on a Compilation CD. It was like whoah!! It was like Tool mixed with a bit of Pantera with a smidgeon of Faith No More thrown in for good measure. Then I saw the video for Dig and that sealed the deal. I bought the album and.... well like this one it took a few listens to get under the skin of the music. This album kicks off with the explosive Silenced which opens with a funky drum and bass bit before ripping your head apart with a collossal riff. Three tracks in and new single Not Falling hits you inda hed with it's stomping riffs and beautiful melodies. And that's the strange thing about Mudvayne they are a quite heavy, dare I say it, nu-metal (whatever the fuck that means) band but dammit they can play!!! The rhythm section is the finest of any new band around these days, the guitaring is quite riffy but at the same time extremely complex to master(believe me I've tried) and the singing is just so..... versatile..... If your into heavy riffy music that you can headbang to til you get sick but still be astounded by the intelligence of it all then this is for you. | |||||||||||
