First Tesla Show |
||||
The first time I saw Tesla in concert was on the GRC tour. They were opening for Def Leppard at the convention center in Springfield, IL. My first round stage experience as well. The show was sold out. My buddy had a couple of tickets but, he was not really into Def Lep. We went up by the venue early on in the evening. He announced he had two seats for sale as we pulled up. You should have seen the women run over and start bidding on the tix. I was quite surprised. He sold the tix for fifty bucks each. This was in the mid to later eighties and that was still a really high price. Unlike today where the box office starts there and the after market is at least double. Anyway, we drove away and decided to party for the night, with his new found wealth. Especially, since he got the tix for free. Off to the liquor store we went for our bottle of JD. The night had began. We partied for a while over at another friend's house. We stayed for a couple hours then decided to go back up to the convention center. We used to have this bad habit of sneaking in to shows. So, off we went to do our deed. When we arrived we walked in the doors to the lobby and to our surprise the arena doors were wide open. Which are normally closed when the show starts. Not tonight. Then the second suprise, no door persons as well. We couldn't believe our eyes. Were we going to be able to walk right in to a sold out show with no problems, no tickets, no backdoors? This was unheard of. Slowly walking up to the arena doors we still saw no security at all. My buddy and I kind of looked at each other shrugged our shoulders and nodded our heads. Then with out a word walked right in. The show was excellent. Tesla had already started on stage. I am not sure how much I missed but, what I saw was kick ass raw rock. I loved it. I had to see this whole show from the begining. I didn't expect them through town again so it looked like I had a misson. I figure since I didn't , coulndn't get a ticket and still got to see the show it must have been meant for me to be there. |
