The opening ceremonies of the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece were spectacular. I'm sorry I missed it. The photos I have found are amazing and likely do not do it justice.
And then, the FCC is considering punishing NBC television for airing the games because a bare-chested woman, actors dressed as naked statues, and simulated sex was involved in the ceremonial presentation. This all apparently as a result of the fervor and network fear following Janet Jackson's indelicate exposure stunt at the Superbowl.
Does it strike anyone as utterly foolish that the US feels the need to impose its own system of morals, values and government upon the world, whatever the cost? Culture, pride, economics, history, freedom, and human life? What are these, compared to how awesome and above reproach the American way of live is?
Ugh. Let's all get over ourselves. We're just a bunch of people who wound up on this rock instead of that one.
